About this property
A Beautiful Log Cabin In The Woods, On Pontoosuc Lake, Yet Near Everything
Greetings from John at the American House! This is the perfect getaway to destress and relax! This is an original Lincoln Logs home, nestled in two and a half acres of private woodland, with 100 feet of lake frontage. No noisy omotorboats at this end of the lake, just lots of wildlife and an occasional canoe or kayak. A hand crafted canoe is ready for your enjoyment, as well as 3 kayaks. Very private property with almost anything you may need provided down by the water, including an outdoor screen with projector and a dock for launching the canoe and kayaks. Check out the pictures!
Cabin sleeps five, with a queen bed in the master bedroom on main floor, a double log bed and a queen bed in the loft, as well as a twin rollaway in walk in closet. The bathroom is off the spacious den. There is an air conditioner in the master bedroom. Normally the cabin stays quite cool by following a few easy tips. Please help yourselves to the well stocked kitchen and linens. A brand new gas stove is in kitchen. Large TV in the living room and in the den with lots of movies to watch. Two twelve by twelve foot Canopies right on the water with a stocked fire pit and hammocks nearby. Electricity, WIFI, refrigerator and rain barrel all conveniently located. Large outdoor screen with Bluetooth speaker for viewing movies or concerts also down by the water. New, a private screened gazebo right on the water with a gas firepit 100 ft from the main area (where the tent used to be).

Great cabin on the lake with loads of amenities and welcoming touches. It was just me visiting a colleague but this is a great place for a group retreat or family fun as well as a peaceful place for someone traveling solo. Excellent and communicative host and I really enjoyed my time here.
I could not be more satisfied with the experience we had during our short stay. It was actually very nice to be more in the quiet Cove vs the main lake area… Paddling via canoe or kayak to the main lake area and swimming off of the island there was quite special.
Cozy cabin on the lake. So many activities including kayaking, canoeing and just floating. Very private location but close enough that restaurants deliver. Easy to get down to the lake from the cabin, even for seniors. Full entertainment areas at the waterfront. I hosted a dinner for twelve with no problem. Owner is great and available if you need him
Great visit to the Berkshires. The house is setback from the road and you have great privacy but also very convenient.
Easy access to all the Berkshires attractions.
What a tranquil, relaxing getaway on a beautiful lake surrounded by nature! Enjoy the hand-crafted canoe, evenings by the fire pit, and lots of hiking in the area.
We had a wonderful stay. The setting is beautiful, the host was easy to communicate with, and the house was full of amenities. The lakefront BBQ area is a huge plus. We'll definitely be back!
The cabin is large and extremely well stocked inside and out. The property is large and there are many amenities outside near the water. The cabin had everything we needed and it is close to Mount Greylock reserve. I wish we had a few more days to spend there. We would love to visit again.
The best VRBO we have ever rented.
We wanted a short getaway where we could relax in an active way! We fished, kayaked, hiked and mini-golfed and still had plenty of time for board games and reading. Thank you John for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!
My family and I had an amazing time for a nice weekend getaway at John’s cabin. The cabin was beautiful and very welcoming. There was everything you would need to have a comfortable stay. The lake side amenities made they stay even better. Spent the two days down by and on the water making family memories.
Very relaxing & peaceful spot. John was a gracious host & even called when we were late arriving to check on us. The house was well stocked & had so many amenities.
This cabin and property is beautiful, clean, fully stocked, and very well maintained. We stayed there during a hot July week but the cabin was always cool and comfortable. The bedroom is air conditioned and the fans circulated the air, maintaining a pleasant temperature. The host was always available to answer any questions or concerns. We would gladly stay here again and recommend it to others.
Although we planned to stay here to hike the AT and paddle, we ended up also biking on the local rail trail. The place was perfectly located. The nearby restaurants were great (Zucchini's & Proprietors). It was so relaxing by the water! The wild life was great, especially the bobcat. The kitchen was fully stocked and lots of extras. Great place to stay!
John was helpful and kind. I would definitely rent his cabin again. It's clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful with several seating areas and a grill by the water. Kayaking was perfect, the adjacent lake is clean and great for swimming. And, of course, The Berkshires are a wonderful playground for cultural activities, hiking and biking.
What a great weekend!! I just wish we could have stayed longer. The cabin is beautiful and had everything I was looking for. Very comfortable accommodations for the 3 of us. We throughly enjoyed being outdoors around the fire pit which was great after a long afternoon on the kayak and canoe. Host was easy to reach with great communication. Overall very happy with our stay and look forward to returning.
This is a well loved family property and evidence of their enjoyment of it surrounds you. The location is lovely and we spent mornings and afternoons sitting by the water or kayaking and exploring the wetlands. If you love nature then this is the spot for you. We saw bald eagles, osprey, kingfishers, a least bittern, herons and a common egret.
This was the second time we stayed in this home because it is so nice and the host is generous and friendly. On a cold rainy day we stayed indoors with a fire and on the nice weather days we spent time by the lake. A perfect combination. We definitely go back.
Our stay was amazing, clean and comfortable. John was an outstanding host. The house and everything we needed plus more! Would definitely recommend. Thank you John. Sincerely Lisa & Jeff
We had lovely stay between Christmas and New Years. The cabin was decorated for the holidays, including personalized Christmas stockings for my three children filled with gifts. My kids are already asking when they can go back! The cabin is set back off the road leaving it very quiet, peaceful and secluded. John was very accommodating and the cabin is equipped with everything you could need for an enjoyable stay!
We enjoyed our stay and found the home to be very welcoming with lots of amenities. The home was clean and the kitchen was well stocked to meet our cooking needs. We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace on the cold and rainy days. We would have used more of the outside amenities if the weather was better. We would definitely go back there.
We love coming to America House each summer to unplug and reconnect with nature. Watching humming birds and chipmunks going busily about their day out the massive windows as we lazily sip our morning coffee in the front room and then wandering down to lake to sit some more in the big Adirondack chairs and watch the dragon flies or take the canoe out to visit the great blue heron…these are some of the joys of this very special place John is the perfect host—always attentive without ever becoming obtrusive. He thinks of everything!
