We loved this rental. Beautiful home tucked back in a small woods setting right off a major highway leading to anywhere you want or need to go! Very spacious home inside and out! Beautiful front yard with the deck and rocking chairs, big beautiful back yard (our dogs loved it), fireplace, creek. Big spacious clean rooms! We would love to book this rental every vacation we visit!
We loved staying here!! Such a great location central to lots of hiking and waterfalls. We enjoyed walking around the property on all the hills as well! We have two boys ages 3 & 4 who enjoyed the 'hideout'. The firepit was also great for evenings outside. The house is much bigger than we anticipated, we enjoyed having all the space. Kitchen is also fully stocked for all your cooking needs and even Tupperware for leftovers to use. The one thing we suggest is a dehumidifier in the downstairs area. It smelt pretty musty the whole time, we even bought a wax burner to mask the smell. Even though we washed clothes there, we ended up washing all of our things when we arrived home due to the smell.
Pisgah Adventure Cottage was in a great location for outdoor activities in the Brevard area especially the Pisgah Forest and Dupont Forest. The Cottage was very comfortable with more than enough room for a family of 4. Would recommend and would stay again.
Spacious, kid friendly cabin. My boys loved making s'more's in the fire pit and playing in the stream out back. Plenty of space for our family and love having different living areas on each floor. Very steep driveway. Close drive to pisgah and dupont for waterfall hikes!
We enjoyed our stay so much- wish we had one more day there. We did a quick family getaway and it was great for multigenerational people. The downstairs was great for kids- stocked with toys and plenty of entertainment. We also enjoyed the large backyard, overlooking a shallow creek. Would have been so much fun to play in if it were Summer or Spring. Also- very well stocked kitchen. Would highly recommend!
Little special touches made a great cabin even greater! Amenities were exceptional! Gourmet coffee was delicious and a welcome surprise. We had a fire in the firepit every night and the Weber grill worked great for our steaks! Thanks for everything! Ritchie and Shirley C.
Overall, I was happy with the rental. Comfy beds, plenty of room for families, and a good layout for hanging out together with plenty of games for the kids. The location is great for those looking to hike in nearby Pisgah Forest and restaurants in Brevard are just minutes away as well. Check-in and check-out were super easy.
A few things to note:
- The driveways are steep, gravel, and were rutted out in spots making entry and exit very difficult. I would recommend a 4wd vehicle, especially nothing low to the ground or with bald tires or you'd likely be stuck and unable to leave. Even our 2wd Highlander struggled to get out up the hill. I'm glad we didn't arrive in the dark as it's pretty sketchy getting in until you've done it once.
- The propane "fireplace" downstairs is not ventilated! When my family came into the property and found the pilot light lit, the bottom floor reeked of gas and made us all very concerned for our safety. We shut off the valve, opened windows, and aired out the house. There is a carbon monoxide sensor downstairs but I'm not sure it's working as I can't imagine a safe way to run that fireplace with no venting. It definitely should not have been left on between rentals.
The photos are quite old and should be updated. It appeared as though no one had been to the property for a walk-through, nor has anyone rented it for some time. Furniture was tattered, some dishes in the cabinets were dirty, outdoor patio furniture was ripped and dirty, firewood stock was completely covered with leaves and wet, the host company did nothing to solve the issues. Nothing like the photos.
This house is absolutely phenomenal. While it was only my husband, our dog, and myself, so we didn't have time to enjoy all of the house in such a short time frame, but we will definitely be back in the future. So close, yet so far away from everything. Perfectly secluded. Driveway is a bit tricky if you don't have 4-wheel drive, but we managed. We absolutely LOVED this house and will be back. Very clean, very well maintained. Plenty of rooms and activities. We loved it.
This cabin is tucked away for privacy but close enough to many restaurants and the Pisgah Forest National Forest. The cabin was very clean and spacious and we look forward to our next stay.
Really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Great deck to have a cup of coffee outside in the morning, and then close to Brevard (which is an awesome little town) and Asheville for days out.
Would come back.
The house was very nice. Lots of room for the kids. We loved the fire pit and even made smores 1 night. It was nice to have 3 full baths a d bedrooms for the 2 kids. Very nice place to stay. Not to far from shopping and food. Highly recommend staying here
We visited the Brevard / Pisgah National Forest area briefly and were pleased to find this family-friendly cabin for our stay. The cabin was easy to find, clean, and well-stocked. We especially enjoyed the bunk bed room and downstairs den (with toys and games!) for our boys. We also enjoyed the fire pit (stocked with firewood) and the back deck.
House was very nice. Four wheel drive/ AWD vehicle with enough clearance pretty much necessary to get in and out of this driveway but not an issue if you’re prepared. Overall great stay and would book again.

Had a lovely stay. Very clean. Wish the weather had cooperated so we could've enjoyed the outside amenities. Only downside of the property is the driveway. Definitely need AWD or 4WD. Would recommend the property to others very enjoyable stay.
the place was beautiful my only suggestion is that they put a small note letting everyone know how steep the driveway is we had an suv and were fine but a low riding car may not do as well
Clean, lots of amenities, and more space than we thought!
Great value for the price. We really enjoyed our first stay here. Plenty of instruction given both online and in a print binder on the premises and helpful hints posted where useful. If you have forgotten an item they have a generous number of courtesy items such as detergent & drier sheets, pods for the dishwasher; even ziplock bags. Plenty of towels too!
The kitchen was stocked w/ plenty of dishes / pots & pans, cutting boards etc. The grill on the deck had its own supply drawer in the kitchen. We cooked daily and besides not finding a whisk this home had absolutely everything we needed including Keurig & traditional coffee maker.
No small children with us but there is a great bunk room, plenty of board games for a rainy day, and plenty of couches to hang out & relax on after a long day of mountain biking or hiking.
Outside there is a nice fire-pit and a nearby stack of logs (the owner should really cover the firewood so it stays dry/cured), plenty of seating and a great front porch & back deck.
NOTE: The loose gravel driveway is best approached by NOT going directly down to the house on the steep drive but swinging around the garage by going straight/right then left after the structure and driving onto the concrete pad to the left of the house. Go out the same way you went in. IF you have a true 4 wheel drive equipped vehicle then enjoy the 22% gradient for the most direct route. With no leaves on the trees the rural highway noise was noticeable if outside.
Spacious, clean house conveniently located near Brevard
We absolutely loved this home! We (my hisband. Myself and teen)were traveling with another family of 3 (2 adults, 1 teen). Pisgah Adventure Cottage was conveniently located near shopping, groceries, restaurants, hiking, etc. the home was clean and the layout was perfect for us. Large common areas but bedrooms on different levels. The outdoor decks and fire pit were an added bonus for relaxing in the evenings.
We do have some suggestions to help future guests:
1). The driveway to the property is not well marked so it is difficult to see after sundown. If you pass the driveway, it is challenging to turn around on the narrow, gravel, uphill main road. Then, you can’t turn right into drive because the turn is too sharp so….down the gravel road you go to turn around and try again. Lol
This is important info because the driveway is VERY STEEP, GRAVEL, downhill to a concrete parking pad with only a single railroad tie to keep you from driving over the ledge/drop off.
We share this information so the host can hopefully mark the driveway entrance a little better AND to forewarn future guests of the steep driveway down to the property.
Otherwise…if you are looking for a large, clean home that feels like your secluded in the mountains but you’re actually in close proximity to everything then this is the property for you. The house came with everything completely stocked (toilet paper, coffee pods, washer/dryer and supplies, firewood, games for every age group and more),
We did have a small issue with the master bedroom toilet not flushing, however, we sent an email on Sunday morning and someone was there to unclog it within a couple of hours. The toilet still wouldn’t flush even the smallest amount of toilet paper BUT there are two other bathrooms in the house so we made it work.
This place was a perfect spot to stay while planning hiking and mt biking trips throughout Pisgah National Forest and Dupont St Park. I'd highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again. Kitchen came fully stocked with everything we needed. Only thing I'd mention for future guests was the part of the driveway that goes straight down ends with an abrupt ~6 ft drop on the backside. Little dangerous if you're arriving at night and unaware. Loved this house!
