Stayed for 4 nights as part of honeymoon trip round Italy. Proximity to station was a key factor, as we used the train everywhere - Florence, Pisa, Siena and Lucca are all very easy day-trips by train from Pontedera. Hotel was good value, room very adequately furnished, and the breakfast was splendid, with wonderful bread and pastries from the bakery across the road. Everything was so clean. My wife loved the little carpet rugs in the elevator which were changed every day, with "Sunday" or "Monday" etc, woven into them. Ornate interior as per photos.
Staff were all very friendly, spoke good English and seemed to enjoy helping me with my basic Italian.
The hotel is located in a quiet part of town, but just 2 minutes from the main street with restaurants, shops, banks etc.
Note that Pontedera itself is not really a tourist town - there aren't walls, galleries & cathedrals to explore there (well, none that we got to know about), but as a base we found it perfect. The hotel is an easy 6-8 min walk from station (no hills), which we covered each day, and also with our wheel-on cases when arriving/leaving.
Note - if you don't stay anywhere less than the Executive Floor of 5* major chain hotels, then this might not work for you, but for the price, we loved it! It was clean friendly, quiet, welcoming, and secure.
We are both hoping to return!
