Think carefully
I have visited theCape Panwa 7 times over the last 23 years and very little has changed. However certain areas have now fallen way below what weI expected. Service in all areas is so poor that guests have given up eating in the hotel. Breakfast is not a patch on what it used to be and is the same everyday. There is no supervision of staff, clearly no training for new staff even to understand the basics of serving a guest. A few of the remaining long term staff have also given up ( their words not mine) as no one seems to care anymore. The decking around the pool area has been there for over 30+ years and is now so dangerous for all guests. Tiles are missing from the main pool and rust is showing in the pool. There are many other tripping hazards in and around the hotel which have been painted black so you can see them better, especially in the dark. ( Really). The hotel general manager was on site but not once did I see him talk to a member of staff or a guest. What a shame for such a beautiful place to have fallen.

Dear David, Thank you for writing at such length about your stay at Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket. Comments from frequently returning guests such as you are particularly useful in guiding our plans to get back to our former high standards, following the devastation of the pandemic. Allow me to point out that the pool was refurbished 8 years ago, not 30 as you state, and in May this year we will be totally replacing the decking. . Unfortunately, during peak or high occupancies, it may take a little bit longer time to prepare meals as all our food is cooked to order. As you may know, after Covid there is still an on-going shortage of qualified hotel personnel and we sincerely apologise for this waiting time. Staff training takes place more effectively in low season and we apologise for any shortcoming of our new recruits; we are sure that they will soon be as confident and involved as our ‘old hands’. Our management understands and respects the guests’ desire for privacy and independence to enjoy themselves but, of course, we engage with them when necessary. We hope to see you back in the future to witness at first hand the progress everyone has made.Cape and Kantary Hotels supports SOS Children’s Villages and the TSPCA. We do not serve foie gras, birds’ nest or shark’s fin and we stand firmly against the exploitation of Thai elephants for commerce or entertainment.Sincerely yours,

The property itself is beautiful and scenic. We loved the private beach, and the view from breakfast never got old. But the food and service is severely lacking, as well as much of the accommodations becoming outdated and worn. The staff at the front desk are helpful and accomodating, but that's where it ends. Several times there were situations I could have used help, like carrying luggage, but the staff offered no assistance. Room service is also lacking. Due to issues created through language barriers, we were not able to effectively communicate with the staff, which led to several misunderstandings and, once, being hung up on. This also leads me to the food, which was extremely lacking in flavor and variety despite the high cost. For example, there were several breakfasts where there were simply no options to eat other than Western food, like bread pudding, bacon, or beans. Since we were at a resort in Thailand, I really expected many more Thai food options than we ever got. In addition to the poor quality of food, restaurants often had high wait times for food to be served or was forgotten about completely. As an example, we waited nearly 40 minutes on a salad at the Bamboo bar. When we went back later, it was over an hour and it was clear the server simply forgot about the order. Overall, I'm disappointed with our experience at a five-star resort. The grounds were stunning and we loved the Panwa house, but everything else was underwhelming. We will not be back.

Hotel is near the beach and rooms are very nice. Service was not good as no one helped with our bags on check in and check out. Bell boys just sat by and watched. The resort itself was great. nice pool. 3 places to eat and drink. big selection at breakfast a plus. (having said that i was disappointed by the orange juice, not the delicious fresh thai orange juice i love so much) the private beach is beautiful, but wear water shoes as there is a lot of coral once you get past the sandy area, also bring goggles, there are lots of fish to see at low to mid tide. overall it's pretty tame at the hotel, not a party crowd, good for some quiet relaxation. the suite was very nice, includes a balcony with hot tub. there is a bus to town that goes back and forth every 5 minutes, convenient because of the big hill you would other wise have to walk. the local area is pretty sparse however, just a small night market with basic souvenir type wares for sale, and some street food. restaurants in the area however are very good, and affordable. overall, absolute paradise!

I have a major problem with how the Expedia reservation was handled. Despite the email confirmation that tells us we can choose to buy NYE tickets on arrival, we were actually already charged in full. And yet on arrival, no one deigned to even tell us we should reserve our seats. So even though we had booked eight weeks ago, we were left with the LAST choices for seats. Unclassy on both Expedia and the hotels part. Secondly, this is no doubt a beautiful property with otherwise lovely hardworking staff. But it is entirely geared towards Europeans. The breakfast buffet is a joke. Huge but you might as well be in Europe what with all the sausage. The few loca Thai options almost all have meat-yay for fried rice every single day. The pool is stunning. But there is limited canopied seats and despite signage warning people their seats will be taken if they leave for more than an hour, every single day we saw people reserve seats with nothing more than a towel and leave for leisurely breakfasts or whatever else. Don’t expect to get a seat even at 3pm because of this. Nothing is done by the staff of course. We had a beautiful cape suite with a stunning view from the balcony. The beach is quite nice. Also, Panwa House offers amazing food and is beautiful. But I wouldn’t stay here again. If you’re looking for an impersonal giant resort then sure this is your place.

Thank you for writing about your stay with us at Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket. We are sorry for any disappointments you may have experienced but I would point out that a letter was sent to all rooms informing guests about the NYE party and that reservations were recommended. Further, we extended the booking time from the 30 December to 5 p.m. the following day. The choice of breakfast spread mirrors the nationality and thus the expectations of guests that we have in-house at any particular time. We always provide a minimum of 5 warm Thai dishes, including rice and noodles. Asian cultures also enjoy eating sausages, so we do indeed have some sausages adjusted to their flavours and preferences. We apologise for the limited space and seating around the pool. The pool deck is limited in its capacity due to the size and we have to take into account the safety aspect where there might be excited children running around, though we have added a few more sun beds for the week of Christmas and New Year. The beach garden and the swimming pool at the Panwa House have sufficient seating capacity however. We thank you most sincerely for your recognition of the work of our staff and we are naturally saddened that you may not return. Should you change your mind on reflection, however, I can assure you of the warmest of welcomes. Cape and Kantary Hotels supports SOS Children’s Villages and the TSPCA. Cape Panwa relaxation
Hotel had a beautiful setting at the end of the Cape, a five minute walk from the local town. Private beach was the highlight but with an easterly facing aspect the sun was gone by 3pm each day. Breakfast was varied and good and staff were very helpful. Some of the dining options are in the sister hotel (Kantary Bay) in the local town and a steady stream of weddings and functions meant that at least one restaurant was fully booked out most nights. Plenty of massage options close by and cheap laundry services. Local dining options are good with Thai and Indian food, much better value than the hotel for the budget conscious. Overall a very relaxing and calm place to recharge the batteries.

It was a shame to stay at this hotel.
Hotel is beautiful. Well maintained. Beach is gorgeous but you can’t swim at all. Rocky bottom and coral debris everywhere. Hotel should tell in advance so the customer is prepared with right shoe. I didn’t enjoy swimming at all because of the rocks. Hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. You can’t go out without hiring an expensive taxi provided only by hotel. Shuttle to Airport was extremely and ridiculously expensive. The most expensive taxi I’ve ever paid in my whole life. I won’t ever stay at this hotel. Prices are ridiculous. The customer is trapped at the hotel so if you want to go out, there is no other way than paying expensive taxi . WiFi doesn’t work so you can’t use grab for another taxi option. So disappointed!!

Absolute paradise
We got married here and it was an amazing experience and more than we could have ever hoped for. Nothing was too much for Aom who is amazing. The hotel itself was great and the beach is beautiful. Breakfast selection is really good and the views from breakfast are fantastic. Plenty of loungers around the pools and beach.

Quiet Oasis
This beautiful hotel has its own beach offering tranquility far away from the craziness Phuket can offer. It offers frequent shuttles to the small main town, which offers a few bars, restaurants, massage places, and a small street night market.

A small piece of paradise.
Our third stay in 17 years! Still amazing. A unique set up with a stunning beach and gardens. Kind helpful staff. Just want to share with all my friends. We married here, with a kuoni package in 2000 a very special day and stay. Bringing our two girls to share a stay this time was amazing. Room upgrades on arrival was appreciated. A real unpretentious 5star experience

Honeymoon at last
We booked this at the last minute, intending instead to travel to Bali. Unfortunately that would have been unsafe and unwise. Everything about this place was stunning.., The staff, the room and the facilities. Perfect in every way.
