I booked this apartment over a coffee shop in downtown St. Genevieve for a cousin reunion weekend. The apartment suited our needs perfectly. It was spacious, airy, clean and quaint. Two bedroom, with a pull out couch and two extra couches. One bathroom with shower/tub. Large kitchen with about everything you would need. The only thing we couldn't find there was a cutting board. A dining room and a back porch with a sunrise view. We also had access to the front stoop for "porch sitting", and the back yard for a bonfire.
Our hosts were Sam and Shannon who were always around and very personable. Shannon does the baking in the coffee shop downstairs (and she's very good at her job ) and Sam is a terrific metal artist and her work is used all around the apartment.
From this location, we were able to walk anywhere in downtown St. Genevieve, and drive a little over an hour to Elephant Rocks State Park and the Johnson Shut ins. And wineries.. well we would have needed an extra day at least to hit all of them. But our favorite was Chaumette winery.
The only issues we might have had...the apartment is one flight up and I have old knees, there is a train that runs through town often, and that includes nighttime. And we were lucky in that we had perfect weather here in October, and we were able to be comfortable with windows open and a fan now and then. So I suppose if windows were closed, the train would be less noticeable, but the train also gave us something to laugh about. But there is an ac unit in one area of the apartment, I'm just not sure how that would work in very hot weather. And this is an old building that dates back to the 1800's, so I'm not sure how well it heats. But our fall visit was wonderful. I highly recommend. And as I'm typing this review, the sunrise is just getting prettier!!
