We really enjoyed the farmhouse and visited Blacksburg, Cascades and other National Forest hiking areas during our stay. Loved all the trains, too. Note that some windows don’t have screens. We learned the hard way since it was ladybug season!
Stayed one night for a VT football game and can’t wait to come back! House is so charming and comfortable and had everything we needed. Sara was quick to respond to all of our questions.
The farmhouse was absolutely adorable and charming. We really enjoyed the serenity of the countryside! The owner was very responsive and communicated in an extremely timely manner, and desired for us to enjoy our stay... which we did!
we took our older children here to visit our son at Virginia Tech. Really lovely little house tucked away at the top of the mountain. Big yard for the puppy to run around and nice accommodations. Would definitely recommend.
Great property. Lots of "farmhouse" style furniture / decor. Beds were extremely comfortable; well done linens / comforters, etc. Beautiful view of the New River cliff walls. Well maintained.
This property was incredible. The pictures are gorgeous, but don’t do it justice!!!! Inside was beautifully decorated, cozy, and comfortable. Outside was scenic, peaceful, and had many areas to sit and just enjoy. The dogs had a blast running around the expansive lawn, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time here. I only wish we stayed longer! Sara was super communicative, friendly, and understanding. 10/10 no notes. We can’t wait to come back and stay at the farmhouse again soon!
Charming house on a beautiful pasture/farm. It is an easy drive into Blacksburg if you are coming down for a game weekend. There is a train nearby so you will hear the train at all hours of the day and night. We quickly got used to it but if you are a light sleeper then bring ear plugs. Kitchen could be better stocked with basic items for cooking like spices and pots that work with the induction stove top. Owners did provide coffee and related items. The owners have also done some lovely upgrades to the bathrooms and created a nice outdoor fire pit area. We enjoyed the views, room to spread out and the mellow location. Overall, nice stay for a quiet getaway.
We have stayed in many rentals over the years, but nothing compares to this farmhouse. The photos are gorgeous, but somehow they still don’t capture the true magic of this place. From the moment we turned onto the quiet gravel lane and saw the home nestled among rolling fields, we knew we had found something special.Inside, the house is immaculate, beautifully decorated, cozy, and full of charm. Every room feels curated with care — warm wood tones, soft colors, thoughtful touches — yet still completely livable and inviting. The beds are dreamy, the linens plush, and the entire house feels spotless and lovingly maintained. It’s one of those rare homes where you instantly feel both pampered and at home. The outdoor spaces are pure serenity. The expansive lawn is perfect for dogs or kids to run free, and the quiet sitting areas scattered across the property offer views in every direction. We loved sipping coffee in the morning on the back porch. Even the passing freight trains add to the countryside ambiance — distant enough not to disturb, but close enough to give the setting a nostalgic, storybook quality.Location-wise, it’s perfect: just far enough into the countryside to feel secluded and peaceful, yet still an easy drive to Blacksburg and Virginia Tech. It was ideal for our fall visit — the colors were stunning.
Our family spent 4 magical days in the Pembroke farmhouse while visiting our son at Virginia Tech. The owners left no stone unturned in this beautifully done farmhouse. They managed to keep the rustic feel of a farmhouse and add all the amenities you could desire in your private oasis. The charming home features the character of original molding, wood floors and vents, creaky floors, original farm oven, beautiful wood furniture and more. What you don’t lack is modern convinces perfectly designed to blend with the home’s character. Both bathrooms are beautifully remodeled and gorgeous. The kitchen has a perfect mix of old and new, stocked with all you will need. Linens were provided and were all top quality. Our family spent much of our time there outside on the very private and vast land surrounding the farmhouse. Gorgeous views, rolling hills, tree swing, outdoor seating and large fire pit were just some of the great ways to enjoy the outdoors. As owners described there is a very active train track not far away. You can hear the train from inside the home but it never bothered us and we’re able to sleep comfortably each night. We cannot wait to return to the Pembroke Farm house.
Gorgeous property!! We loved staying here! It’s private and on a dead end so you have that real get away feel. Beautiful inside. We would definitely stay here again. Owner very quick to respond to all needs or questions.
What a hidden gem! A beautiful cottage in the outskirts of Blacksburg, a beautiful place to host any small occasion. Can’t wait for my next time there.
One of the coolest places we’ve ever stayed! The property and house were absolutely perfect for a relaxed family get together. Highlights included game nights, chatting on the enclosed porch, morning coffee on the back deck and a sunset bocce game…so many memories. Agree with everything written in all previous reviews, but would add that my favorite parts were the bonafide gorgeous pollinator garden and the abundance of delightful art throughout the house and property! Someone has poured some loving care and creative energy into the grounds and landscaping. Also, someone’s dad brought us some delicious fresh veggies (chef’s kiss). Coming back for all of it plus comfy beds and the most darling kitchen you’ve ever seen.
Gorgeous country property about a half hour drive from Blacksburg! Our daughter is a Virginia Tech alumnus, and wanted to visit the campus for nostalgia’s sake. This farm property was a lovely getaway for the four of us (all adults)! The house is warm and inviting, and the grounds and gardens are dotted with whimsical accents. The freight trains pass by, but are far enough away that the whistles are not intrusive, but rather add to the ambience. Sara, our host, sent us a ton of useful information about the local area, including restaurants and places of interest to visit. Truly above and beyond! Some things to note: the lane leading to the house is a two-strips-of-gravel trail. Our sedan was fine, but a low slung sporty coupe might have trouble. If you’re driving an SUV or a pickup, you’ll be golden! This is a beautifully renovated farm house, but it’s still an old building. The stairs are narrow, the floors are slightly uneven, so if any of your party struggles with walking, this could be a problem. There are no bedrooms on the ground floor. The kitchen is lovely, with modern appliances- except for a vintage electric oven that appears to be decorative only. This wasn’t a problem for us, I wasn’t planning on needing an oven anyway, but it might matter to someone else! The place is a gorgeous, cozy retreat for anyone interested in hiking the local area or escaping the VT campus for a few hours!
