The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't stifled our enthusiasm for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to navigate travel's new challenges:

• Before committing to anything, check if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by checking official government websites.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, do not remove your face mask. You will be required to briefly lower it for identification purposes. Anyone refusing to wear a face mask may be fined and denied entry.
• Instead of handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it directly on the scanner yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• You're permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. This will need to be taken out for screening.
• To reduce handling during screening, place items such as your keys, wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• If you're planning to take food on the plane with you, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
