"Positives Well maintained cabana styled facility in front of the Indian Ocean. Absolutely amazing staff. Beautifully laid out pool with fantastic views looking at evening sunset. Great food! Negatives Locals will definitely let you know you're a surrounded by Islamists. You will definitely not welcome to wear a bikini or any form of costume that is not acceptable to them in the beach. In the evening, penguin looking women stand in front of the pool for no apparent reason. No bacon in the menu. A Danish woman was sexually assaulted recently in the beach according to Locals. Potivil is a part of Sri Lanka! Our heroes liberated this area from Tamil Terrorists not to be taken over by Islamists! Sad."

Pros ✨Friendly, welcoming staff and always happy to see you ✨Location to the surf, shops, bars and restaurants, undeniably spot on, 5 starts for that alone. ✨Spacious rooms with air con ✨Reasonable price Cons 🫠Restaurant, bar and coffee not operating as I think it is now low season and everyone is getting ready to shut down for the end of the season so we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the advertised amenities 🫠It’s a hostel pulling in young travellers (not hate, they had a great time) wanting to party until the early hours while we were there to surf so getting up for a 5am felt rough with only a few hours of sleep. Location and staff made it a good stay but couldn’t been better of the advertised amenities were operating!"

"Friendly welcome on arrival. Perfect location right on Arugam Beach, walkable to all the beachfront restaurants, and about 5-10 minutes to the high street with plenty more restaurants, bars and shops. Our room was quite basic and small, but perfectly sufficient for 2 people staying a week. Clean, with linen and towels changed every 3 days. Nisha and her brothers are on site at all times and were always helpful with questions or requests, and served delicious breakfasts every morning. They also helped us with laundry. Having the surf school right outside our accommodation was extremely handy. There are a few late night parties at the restaurants next door on Saturdays and Sundays, we got a heads up about this in advance. It didn't bother us much, we enjoyed the music and used earplugs later at night if needed. We shall visit again if we are back in Arugam Bay."
