Very Good but not excellent
The hotel structure is nice, relatively new, well maintained. Staff is kind, restaurant is excellent. However, for a five star hotel I am expecting a bit more. Being lacking of a pool, I would put a bit more efforts to take it to the excellence. Decorations are not up to the level (a few paintings more in the room would help, a more warm environment, as it’s quite cold in colors and feelings) and definitely more amenities and of a higher quality (toothpaste/brush, comb missing not that high quality shower gel/soap/shampoo, the hair dryer is a joke. I will anyway certainly return, the value for money is definitely there.

Disappointed stay
It could have been a perfect stay if it weren’t problems with all the light fixtures in the room. Other than the ceiling light none of the lighting fixtures work. It took a while for the staff to replace the light bulb. However one floor lamp still doesn’t work. With very dark paint and curtains it is dark in the room. They should have checked the room to make sure all in working conditions before sending the guests to the room.

Staying in the hotel for 2 nights. We found the pillows and bed uncomfortable as they were very hard. Ended up with twisted neck / back. Also - getting a hot tea was not achievable on our 2nd morning as the heat under the water was off & there wasn’t anybody around in the dining area to ask to resolve (that goes for both mornings). Otherwise- clean, friendly, good location

Good, not great 5-star. Would be perfect 4-star.
Pros: excellent service, good facilities, great location, acceptable internet connection. Cons: tired rooms with questionable decor, sub-par breakfast more suited for a 3-star Holiday Inn then a 5-star hotel.

Horrible sleep
I have been doing business in Italy for the past 7 years and travel 5 to 7 times per year. This was my first stay in Parma. This is not the hotel to stay in if you want a good night sleep. The bed is the hardest I have ever slept on and the pillows - cannot begin to describe how bad they were ... "bag of cement". Hotel stay is courteous, the facility itself is worn and dated though. This is a 3 star hotel at best with really bad beds and pillows.

Wonderful city centre hotel.
We had a quiet room on an inner courtyard. Everything was excellent. We had a welcoming bottle of wine on arrival. All the staff were first class, as usual.

One of the best in Parm
It is more 4+stars than 5. Rooms are too small for 5 stars Hotel. No fresh juices for breakfast. Cold cuts are also limited. Nevertheless beds are comgortable, climatecontrol system is vert efficient even in 40+ Celsius envieronment. No own parking, but they have spaces in next builsing covered spaces. Alternativly, there are 2 city open parkings payable 9am-8pm appx 1-1,5 euros per hour

A classy hotel in a convenient location in Parma
The Grand Hotel de La Ville has excellent service. The lobby has artwork and large oversize recipe books. The decor is very classy.

Hotel was easily accessed. When you arrive (driving) hotel does not look like the images. The other side of building bears closer resemblance to photos online. There was only one receptionist on duty and while polite, not highly efficient. Ditto server at Breakfast who seemed annoyed with request for coffee. Parma is delightful walk. Yes, would stay again.

We love Parma and this hotel - it was our 7th visit to the city and our 3rd time staying in this establishment. It is well run with professional and courteous staff. Plenty of choice for breakfast, which can be eaten inside the stylish dining room or outside during the warmer months. However, our room was beginning to show signs of age (we first stayed here when the hotel was brand new), with the skirting board coming away from the wall (which could do with a lick of paint to cover up some marks) and a cracked toilet seat. There were also a few ants running around, the light surrounding the shaving/make-up mirror wasn't working and there was an insufficient number of hangers in the wardrobe for 2 people. Even so, we were there for only 3 nights and received a big discount for booking during August (which is a relatively quiet period in this area). The air-conditioning and wifi both worked very well. It's a 5-star hotel, but our room (109) did not meet that standard on this occasion. However, I'm sure that other rooms at full price are probably in better condition...and a couple of other, minor concerns were dealt with very quickly.

certainly not five stars, I would think of three or four: 1) the room was very simple for five stars. 2) small simple bathroom, shower only. 3) shower door in bad shape. 4) plastic cups in bathroom and minibar instead of glasses! 5) no coffee/tea facilities in room. 6) light of shaving mirror did not work. 7) extremely bad coffee at breakfast. 8) on Sunday morning no "panini freschi" (fresh rolls) for breakfast as the waiter explained "the bakers are closed". In a five star hotel they could easily bake their own bread or have rolls in the freezer.............
