Poor impression, not hygienic
We were disappointed. Our hotel room was shabby, the furniture, in part, second-hand and the carpet soiled and stained. There was a strong, pungent smell of polish or other chemical in the room, so we left the window open for several hours in an attempt to eliminate some of this smell. The bathroom had been recently refurbished, but the design features were impractical and cramped (example - the shower door opens outwards, as the cubicle is very small. This means that the floor inevitably becomes wet particularly as there is no drainage). The location was noisy, too, as the hotel overlooks a busy arterial road. Two positives - the hotel is near the metro and Gare du Nord / Gare de l'Est mainline stations. The receptionist was friendly, welcoming and polite. Even so, we would not stay in this hotel again as the accommodation experience spolit our stay.

First time in Paris
Stayed for 4 nights, great location, close to trains and buses, very nice and helpful staff, room relatively clean, kind of small rooms and bathroom, wifi need to log in every time you want to use it and somewhat slow. Had a guest next door that decided to scream his head off at about 1:30 AM and an other to play loud music at about 5:30AM...2 mornings in a row.

Great Staff and location
This was my second stay at hotel de l'Europe. Front desk is very helpful and friendly. Location is a bonus less than 5 minute walk from Gare du Nord. Prices are reasonable for Paris.

Convenient and comfy stay
Everything's great - easy check-in, helpful staff responding to all our questions. Room has A/C and spacious and quite clean. Only thing is that we had to carry our own luggage up a really narrow staircase!

Great Budget Hotel
The Ritz Carlton this hotel is not. However, the rooms are spacious, clean and the staff and owners very helpful and thoughtful. They offer a tea pot in the room, which is amazing in the winter. Not a lot of TV options, but it's Paris--get out of the room and explore. They offered an adapter, which was very helpful. Great location near Gare du Nord that allows easy access to most of Paris. Internet was occasionally spotty and the elevator is TINY. Not a problem for me, but if you have a big suitcase, good luck. Shower also smaller than necessary (poor design and use of floor space in bathroom--there was space to make it twice as large) and didn't drain well however it did have great water pressure and nice hot water. I'd return.

Close to Gare du nord station
We stayed in this hotel earlier this week for our 4 day trip to Paris. This hotel is fairly easy to find from the main station in paris. The room we stayed in was very small and the shower was lovely and full however the shower is extremely small, you can barely move in it if you are a size 10 and above. The beds were a little uncomfortable. The area is a very noisy area, you can hear the people in the rooms next door using the shower and running the water. The reception man was extremely helpful and spoke English and French however when the receptionist left it was difficult to understand the other reception team. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again only because it was too small and a little uncomfortable however it is very close to the hotel so stay here if you don't mind a little shower and room.

Great service
We arrived at Gare du Nord and very helpful security man helped us find the hotel. Only a short walk. Very helpful staff for whole stay. Great bistro nearby with great service. Staff much nicer and more cheerful than the rude ticket staff at the station. Room small and not fancy but much better than I expected for the price.

These rooms are small and dusty. I expect this in Paris for this price. Bring hand carry luggage if staying. €10 extra for breakfast. Lighting is poor. Very loud street. No air circulation option with windows closed. In dire need of remodeling. The good: 5min walk to Nord train station. There is a fast train to CDG. ONLY TOOK 45min from hotel to gate.

For the price this was an ok stay for a couple of nights and close to Gare de Nord which as we are elderly, was within walking distance of the fast train. Hotel was clean, breakfast adequate, good hot water shower, close to station and reasonably priced. Also hotel had an elevator which was very necessary for us. Staff were very helpful.

Cheap hotel near North and East Train Stations
I stayed at this hotel so I could catch a 06:00 Thalys train to Cologne. The hotel staff were friendly on check in, but during check out, they seemed to have some trouble confirming that I had pre-paid for the room, and were suspicious of my assertion that I had already paid. It appears they keep their reservations in a log book, not on a computer. The room itself was old and worn and got a lot of road noise. However, the bathroom had been recently renovated, which was nice (although the shower drain was blocked). The elevator is tiny as is the stairwell, it screams of fire hazard (but at least there were fire extinguishers on each floor--one right outside my room). Also, there was no deadbolt or chain on the door, which worried me a bit as I was a solo female traveler. I wouldn't recommend the neighborhood, it's very gritty, but it is well connected to public transit, and although there were many questionable characters hanging around outside, I never felt in danger.

Disappointing overall
Small hotel practically close to Gare du nord and Gare l'est train stations. I was welcomed by a sleepy concierge and handed my key with no further comments. Smallest elevator in Paris, and uneven stairs with well-aged carpets. Same thing in the room: 70's carpets and tapestry, half-clean, as for the bed sheets.Very small bathroom, where heating was turned on to the max with no possible control. Bathroom, carpets, bed sheets and wool cover were doubtfully clean. I just felt like leaving and looking for another place, at almost one in the morning. Depressing stay. Don't recommend at all. Absolutely not fair for the price I paid.

A Place to Sleep
Photographs posted on website misleading. Hotel was a bit run down. Could do with carpets being replaced and uPVC window frames being given a good scrubbing. Only had one pillow each with no extras available in the room - I had to fold up the blanket and put under the sheet. The bed linen was clean and the bathroom had just been newly refurbished with all new fittings but again could do with a total renewal of towels. Could also do with some air conditioning or a fan as the room was unbearably hot during the night. However, the hotel was near to Gare du Nord and Gare de L'Est and handy for a couple of Metro stations. The room was also provide with a kettle and teabags and coffee sachets - unusual in foreign hotels not in a resort. All we really needed was a place to sleep so was adequate for that purpose if a bit pricey for what it is.

Stayed for three night over valentines. Only five minutes walk from gare du nord Eurostar terminus. Close to metro and buses. Small family hotel, very helpful and friendly. Room was small and basic, but comfortable and clean, with a view of the basilica Sacre Coer from the Juliet balcony. Great value for money.

Good hotel for the price
Each staff member were very polite and friendly. The room was small but compared to the prices that are out there in Paris, I wasn't surprised. One thing that did bother me is that there was no safe in the room and you had to hand your possessions to the hotel manager which I wasn't comfortable doing.

It was ok
We stayed for 2 nights, the entire place was much smaller than I expected but they know how to utilize space well in France. The building was very clean, the rooms and bathroom were very clean as well. The shower leaked quite a bit but it dries. Didn't like the complimentary soap and shampoo they had to offer. They came in little plastic packages like ketchup from McDonald's. but that is a minor thing. We forgot to buy converter outlets to charge our phones but we learned that you can use the tv to charge things if it has a USB outlet. So funfact for everyone. Use a tv so you don't have to buy a converter. I suggest packing light if you wen to get into the elevator. It has a capacity of 2 people but we put 3 in everytime. It made it but it was tiny. Each morning we had breakfast. We were mislead about this, we thought it was complimentary breakfast but it turned out being €7 per person each meal. The service was perfect though, very friendly staff, and very helpful. We thought it was a decent place to stay for the money we spent. I would go there again if I were to visit again.

Paris So Friendly
The manager at this hotel was exceptional and I was most grateful for any assistance or advice he could offer. The staff all tried to be as helpful as they could be, to a non French speaking female client. The hotel is ideal for a place to rest your head. After all, you don't go to Paris to live in the hotel. It is basic and was clean. Great location to walk to anywhere in Paris. It is on a main road, so there is traffic noise. But one was too tired to care after my ramblings around Paris. Only advice on the location is, do not go to the Gare du Nord for the Eurostar until you absolutely need to check-in. There are a lot of beggars waiting to pounce on you. Really do harass you. 5 star customer care at this hotel. Thank you Hôtel de l'Europe.

Basic hotel close to Eurostar arrival station
You get what you pay for. This was a fairly cheap hotel (in Paris terms at least), basic, but a pretty comfortable bed, the shower worked and was hot. The room could do with a re-decoration, new carpet & curtains, but it was serviceable. We didn't go to Paris to stay in the room so weren't that bothered, and our daughter got a useful life lesson after the usual 4 & 5 star experiences.

The room was quite small but apparently this is pretty normal for Parisian standards. Everything was clean though and my room was ready in the early afternoon. The staff were extremely friendly and accomodating when I just wanted coffee for breakfast. They were able to lock my bag up for the day and let me retrieve it when I needed it later and they did it all with a smile!

Old fashioned hotel
The hotel is near to the Gare du Nord. That is the good point. This is an old fashioned French hotel in need of considerable investment. The rooms date from the fifties/sixties although the bathroom had been modernised.Very hot and noisy (Room fronted on to Boul, Magenta) would not like to stop here on a hot summer night. There is a large upright pipe running through the middle of the hotel which at first I thought might be supporting the roof but closer inspection suggests perhaps for fire safety, never seen this before. The wallpaper on the stairs is badly in need of replacing and adds to the depressing run down nature of the hotel. The hotel has "rules": do not eat in your room, leave key card at reception when you go out etc. The key card is rather unique. No slot to put it in. You wave it at the "lock" which is difficult to see in the dark (no automatic lighting in the corridor you have to look for a time switch.). Would be useful if reception explained this. I could have got an Ibis for a lower price in the area and wish I had done.

Great for a visit to Paris
This hotel is located in the northern area of Paris, so it was a bit sketchy at night sometimes. But it is expected in such a big city. The good thing is it is very close to Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est so it is quick getting around via the Metro. The rooms are pretty small and you aren't allowed to eat food in them, but you're in Paris, so why would you stay in your hotel or eat there in the first place? I would eat breakfast there though. You get a traditional French petit dejeuner of a baguette, croissant, jams, juice and coffee or hot chocolate. The staff were fantastic! Very kind and courteous! They speak many different languages as well. They were very patient with my broken French though. They did enjoy it when I tried to speak to them in French instead of English. The only other (small) issue I had was their very tiny elevator. It's only big enough for one or two people at the most. It is not a hotel that you could take a person in a wheelchair to. I would definitely recommend this hotel still!

Ludicrously overpriced but handy for Gare du Nord
I booked this hotel mainly for the location as I needed to use the RER at Gare du Nord every day, and for that it can't be faulted. It takes around 5 (real) minutes to walk to Gare du Nord, and while the surrounding area isn't the nicest part of Paris there are plenty of decent bars and restaurants. Judging by my room (number 14) the photos make it look much better and brighter than it is in reality, as it was actually quite dark. The floorspace was decent, but the ceiling was very low (I could put the palm of my hand flat on the ceiling). I paid €110 a night which is ridiculous (even for Paris) for the kind of hotel it is.

Ideal for train-based stopover in Paris
Very pleased - got to check in early at 10am, straight after arriving on the overnight couchette from Munich, and get a much needed shower. The small lift made it easier to get our luggage up to the room, which although some might think it small, is what you would expect for Paris and was fine for two. Location is good - you can stroll to areas like the Bourse, Folies Bergeres or Pompidou in less than half an hour. Several mini-supermarkets with good hours are nearby, as are metro stops. Would happily stay there again.
