Hidden Gem Cottages: Ruby Cottage

Whether it's work or play, this is the perfect place to stay! The house has an adjustable beds and private bathrooms for each bedroom. You will enjoy multiple outdoor seating areas, an outdoor kitchen and fishing in the stocked pond.

Our home is situated on the back of our 8 acre property overlooking our pond. It is new construction featuring modern rustic decor for a comfortable, cozy feel.

Guests have access to the property around the house and pond. We will respect their space and privacy. We ask they do the same for us.

Great time. TX Railroad ride was fun with the guide we had. Sheps BBQ was excellent…great bbq and fried catfish! and large servings!! Very quiet location in the country. Enjoyed our visit with friends at the cabin just talking, eating and playing Rook.

Great relaxing stay

The property was ideally situated and had all.the amenities one can expect in an off beat location. Close to the town but far away to feel truly relaxed. My family was there for the Polar Express train ride but had plenty to in the house in our downtime too. My family had a lovely stay and yours will too.

Great peaceful place

We came with family for a wedding in Palestine. This place was clean, quiet and peaceful. The owners own Rump’s BbQ I highly recommend. Her desserts are the BEST! The place has been thoughtfully stocked with items you may have forgotten (toothbrush, razor, first aid kit, shampoo, etc) We would definitely come back if we have a chance.

Great cabin and host

The cabin was perfect and very clean. The host was super-responsive to all of my questions. I could not have been an easier stay. The only downside is that the cell phone service in the area is bad, but the host has WiFi to use, so that helped fix things. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for polar express

We stayed here with family after riding the polar express in Palestine. Perfect serene spot a little outside of town. It was clean and the beds were comfy. Susan was very responsive and great to deal with.

A little piece of peace!

The cottage was a great size, and spacious with beautiful decoration and furniture. Great updated appliances, fireplace (used the lights for ambiance, TV with Direct TV and internet) the internet is a little slower but to be expected being out in the country. The fishing pond was great entertainment for some to catch and release, there were several big fish! The bbq pit was helpful in grilling hamburgers for the family. We will definitely be back when visiting family in the area.

Friend's & Family Polar Express the beginning of a Tradition

The house gave us all a warm homey feeling. We will be booking the same house next year if available. We really didn't want to leave. We weren't able to experience much of the outdoor amenities due to the weather but it was quiet & peaceful. Susan was great! She was quick to respond to my questions before & during our stay. Everything was so clean & the bathrooms were updated, fully stocked with everything including fluffy towels, so much better then most hotels. One of the best trips we've had & most of it truely was because the house felt like home. We'll definitely be back 😊

Here fishy fishy. Come out wherever you are.

Their ads contained pictures of big fish at this location being caught and others just swimming around tempting us to come catch em. We went. We fished for 2 days of our 3 day stay.Neither me or my husband ever got one bite.i am not the best fisherwoman in the world. I am also not that bad. Been fishing for 82 and 85 years and know a bite when I see one. Property was beautiful. Also their internet password failed to connect and fireplace control had no batteries to make it operate. Cold night but we settled for using the traditional house thermostat. Comfy but no ambiance. We could live with all 3 problems and did since we were not given a telephone number to call to inquire. Met neighbors in other rental property next door. They had a larger group and been disappointed by only catching a couple of tiny fish after seeing their ad offering such huge beauties, but not there. ?? Other than this, we loved it and if these 3 issues get fixed we would love to go back sometime. Barb and Art
