Hotel Portbo

"We found Hotel Portbo to be a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in the beautiful Calella de Palafrugell. There is a friendly and accommodating staff, the accommodations were clean and well cared for, and the hotel is well-located only about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and the center of town. The hotel does not have elevator, but the gentleman who checked us in was very kind to carry our bags to the third floor upon arrival and departure. Many reviewers praised the free daily breakfast, and I agree that it was a special treat! The buffet was outstanding, with an extensive selection of fresh, delicious foods which were beautifully arranged and were as delicious as they looked! Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would heartily recommend Hotel Portbo to other travelers."

"Friendly and welcoming staff who speak good English and were quick to respond via message prior to our stay. Great location and plenty of nearby free parking. The room was stylish however not much space for luggage/items. Although the room came with a kettle and pod espresso machine, it was disappointing that the coffee pods were not replenished, and even the cups and sauces were not replaced after being clearly used. Also, although the air conditioning was great, a fridge would have been great. Overall, a good basic hotel with a great location and very friendly staff. Would stay again based on this alone."

"Loved this place. Everything was beautiful and smelled so good. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. My one complaint is the parking. The parking lots the hotel refers you to are only for short term-90mins-and won't let you stay more than 12 hours. So you have to move. We just stayed one night, but I can't imagine dealing with parking if we stayed longer. And good luck finding a free one on the street. In general I found parking in Costa Brava to be so unpleasant that I will likely never go again."

"Olga was very kind and helpful and gave us good suggestions for things around town. The beds were extraordinarily comfortable. I wish someone had suggested we hike the nature trail heading north --- we did a quick run thru just before we left, and it is wonderful. Our stay in a castle (?fort? ?convent?) was wonderful. Lovely, peaceful and relaxing."
