Discover why this energetic riverside city has a worldwide reputation for arts and crafts, which are inspired by a rich American heritage and beautiful waterways.

Paducah is an internationally recognised creative hub with a thriving arts district and historically rich landmarks. Located at the heart of America’s breathtaking inland waterways at the confluence of the Tennessee and Ohio rivers, Paducah has witnessed national history since its early 19th-century foundation. Its captivating stories are chronicled in magnificent architecture and heritage sites.

Check out Paducah’s Historic Downtown to wander through streets lined by elegant 19th-century buildings and monumental landmarks. The city’s fascinating timeline can be followed in its museums, interactive exhibits and murals. From the riverside region’s earliest inhabitants to the city’s settlement by William Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition, the River Discovery Centre provides an insight into Paducah’s long history.

Visit the Market House Museum and admire its 1905 façade. Learn the city’s role in the Civil War at the Lloyd Tilghman House & Civil War Museum. Civil rights history comes to life at the Hotel Metropolitan, which celebrates the lives of its famous African-American guests during the segregation era.

Find out how Paducah earned the title of UNESCO Creative City when you explore its revitalised Lower Town Arts District. One of two U.S cities of Crafts and Folk Art in the internationally recognised network, Paducah is a cultural centre with boundless exhibitions, workshops and performances. Visit the National Quilt Museum to experience this charming local tradition and head to one of the city’s art centres and galleries to check out contemporary cultural offerings. You might catch a performance by the Paducah Symphony Orchestra or see a show at the Market House Theatre.

Experience some of the city’s natural surroundings by exploring thePaducah Riverfront and hiking and boating destinations at nearby lakes and wildlife reserves.

Paducah is located halfway between Nashville and St. Louis in southwestern Kentucky. Fly to Paducah's Barkley Regional Airport, which has daily non-stop flights to and from Chicago O'Hare, or fly to Nashville International Airport and drive 2 hours to reach Paducah. The city’s riverfront downtown can easily be explored on foot. Alternatively, catch the trolleybus between April and September. Visit at any time of the year or plan to be in the city for the AQS QuiltWeek events in April.
