Liked: Staff & service
The room we were assigned was extremely hot and it appears the A/C wasn't working correctly. We were given another room. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating in addressing the issues.
Advertised to have a bar/restaurant where food was available. The kitchen was closed, not even any breakfast in the morning. We picked this hotel based on being able to eat dinner at the hotel. Have stayed at Hilton Garden Inn’s before (Oklahoma, etc.) and they were very nice and food was great. Also, there were parking lot lights shining in the room window all night. No way to close drapes or anything, just an opaque/see thru shade. And, to top it off, they charge $2 for a bottle of water in the room if you’re not a “diamond, gold or silver member”. Hotel staff were friendly, not their fault. Don’t stay here, save your money. We should get a refund since it was false advertising.
The hotel was clean and service was very friendly. I left a note to make sure the rooms fridge was cold when I got there because I have insulin to store while on my trips. I have been leaving that note for years and this was the first hotel to confirm to me they say the note and took care of it, it was very impressive.
Breakfast was not free, it was like 11 or 15 dollars.
The good: Beds were comfortable, service at the front desk was top-notch, bartender made a great martini.
The bad: Our room was set to heat when we came in and it took 8 hours to get the temperature down from 86 to 75. It was not just our room, it was the entire upper floors. The hallways were sweltering. The pool room was like a sauna. And the spa hot tub area shown in pictures is now removed. There were ants in our room and silverfish in our tub. And our mini fridge did not get cold enough to chill our drinks. Even on the lowest setting. Breakfast was not complimentary, it was $11 per person- even kids.
I come to Oxford twice a year every year to visit my dad. I will not use this hotel again.
It was clean and spacious . There were a few sticky spots on carpet and a spider in my bed also the pool was closed which the website does not state. This could have easily gotten 5 stars if i didn't have any of these issues
The front desk staff (Pat) was fantastic. When we encountered problems at check-in, Pat was very helpful along with another female staff member (possibly a manager). The shower had a ring of mold/mildew about 3 inches wide around the bottom of the shower wall. The water in the shower never got hot. We had lukewarm showers for 3 days. The window shades were broken, and the cabinet doors were loose and hanging ajar. It took our entire stay (3 days) to get the temperature in the room stabilized. We often stay at Hilton Garden Inns, and this is by far the worst experience we've ever had.

Disappointing
I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times in the past few years and I’ve always been satisfied. This stay, however, fell short of my expectations. The desk staff was very friendly and efficient and check-in as well as check out was a breeze. The room (338) was disappointing; the bathroom had a very strong cigarette smoke smell. It dissipated a bit with the fan turned on, but the space still smelled “off”. The bathroom was not sparkling clean as I’m used to having at this hotel: there was hair in the shower stall and the sink & countertop were streaked with what I hoped was residue from cleaning products.
The room and bed seemed clean; the bed was comfortable & the pillows were great.
The Keurig coffee machine would not stay latched; I had to physically hold it closed in order to brew a cup of coffee. Also, the housekeeper left only one cup, so my husband didn’t have a cup for coffee.
We arrived late in the evening, so I did not contact the front desk and request a new room; we were o my there for the one night and we were tired, so we just wanted to sleep.
In the past, we’ve been very happy with this hotel (great bar, although we did not use it this time), but this visit was disappointing.

Disliked: Amenities
Evening restaurant was closed all week. It was the main reason I booked the hotel. No reason given to why it was closed when I asked the manager/owner about it. Breakfast was order only and overpriced. I stayed 5 days/4 nights and on 3 of the mornings I had to ask for coffee because none was out in the lobby. Staff lacked customer service (on cell phone scrolling when no coffee was available at 7:30am to guest) and attention to creating an environment of convenience for the guest. Seemed like management was more concerned with saving money than providing an exceptional experience. Other factors include the gym is super small, shower did not provide any area sit my things (shelf was missing and looked to be repaired in a way they were not going to put it back), thermostat in my room did not work, bed was hard.
