"We stayed at the Paradis D’Ouvéa hotel in February 2024…The island itself is an absolute paradise, a place straight out of a cliché book and an absolute postcard.. look in any direction at any time and you will get a visual overload of beauty… The hotel however is a different story… this place is one out of two hotels on the entire island and by far the better one out of the lot. It is considered luxurious however, it need a serious cash injection in order to get serious TLC and undergo some major renovations… here are some of the points that truly need some attention our room, smelled rather funky of humidity and a dire need of fresh air. There is no internet in the rooms. There is no bell desk so you bring your stuff to your room… not a big deal but it is a big property The boardwalk to access the rooms gets covered with berries from the trees above when it rains and therefore becomes incredibly slippery and treacherous (see photo) The food at the restaurant is unbelievably expensive and mediocre at best… I don’t mind paying the equivalent of USD 38 for a plate of pasta but mine was downright inedible. The hotel feels like it is dramatically understaffed and the service at the restaurant is distant and robotic. They do however make good cocktails and you need to try their infused rum (local vanilla and lemon) All in all, there were a whole bunch of problems there but we chose to overlook them for the location is so remote and the surroundings are astonishing"
