I loved staying here this past week. The bed was extremely comfortable, the property was quiet, and the room was a nice place to relax after long days of exploring the area. It’s literally within steps to the beach and is a great central OBX location. The only negative experience I had was with the shower—there were a few mornings that the hot water didn’t last long enough to take a Hollywood shower and the water pressure could be better. Other than that, it was a great experience. I would definitely stay here again as it’s a great value due to location, the peace and quiet, and comfy bed.

Nicely updated room that’s literally on the beach! Convenient location to restaurants and shops. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Staff was exceptionally nice! Easy beach access, the whole building has been recently updated which helps ita lot. The continental breakfast was the only downfall. It’s as basic as one can be really. Waffles and cereals is about as good as it gets really. The staff makes up for what it lacks everywhere else.

My fiance and I stayed her for a weekend getaway trip and we had an amazing time. The room was clean and we were just a few steps away from the beach. We were able to get to most places at OBX in about 10-20 mins depending on what we were doing. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was decent. We will definitely stay here again.

The location is excellent as it is convenient to walk to restaurants and right on the beach. The room was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. There was a bus of teenaged students there, so unfortunate4ly we got very little sleep. Doors slamming constantly all night and people yelling and laughing loudly in the hallway had our nerves on end. It would startle us so much that we would yell out in fear! We had checked in at 5:15 only to receive a phone call at 10:15 p.m. from the staff person that checked me in to ask when we would be arriving. ?? Breakfast consisted of frozen sandwiches that you had to microwave, boiled eggs, cereal and pastries. The staff did bring some apples over and place them in a bowl with her bare hands. It was so crowded! No place to sit and very noisy. We took our coffee, boiled egg and muffin back to thee room and ate on the bed. I wouldn't stay here again because of the noise level.

If you are disturbed by noise, please make the front desk aware. We will do our best to quiet things down. Our complimentary continental breakfast has a variety of choices including: Coffee, tea, orange and apple juice, hard boiled eggs, frozen breakfast sandwiches (chicken, sausage and egg, egg and cheese), make your own waffles, muffins, bagels and cream cheese, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, apples, oranges and bananas.Unfortunately, we are not set up to make breakfast to order.

The property was clean and had a great location. The downfalls were the fact that they put us in a room that was “conjoined,” but there was an entirely different family next door. We/they could see directly under the doors, which didn’t feel very secure or safe. Additionally, there is zero sound-proofing.

This is our second stay in an oceanfront room. Our first stay was great. Unfortunately our room during this stay faced a sand dune and we had limited ocean views despite paying for an oceanfront room. I wish i had called and booked directly with the hotel to clarify what room we were getting.

I enjoyed the location of this property. Right on the beach was nice. Breakfast was good but not awesome with waffles, oatmeal, fruit, eggs and frozen breakfast sandwiches. Soft comfy beds. Couldn’t hear your neighbors.

One of the old school motels and we enjoyed our stay so much. Heat/AC worked perfectly, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, perfect location! Would stay here again!

Lovely Oceanfront hotel. Bed was a bit high and hard to get in and out of. Quiet, great views, convenient. Breakfast was good, but staff could have replenish items more often as certain items would go faster than others and could have been replaced. Dining area small for the amount of people staying. Overall very pleasant stay and would stay there again.

I regret that I was not able to come. I do appreciate the phone call asking me if I was coming. This was the last leg of a 6 day trip that had to be canceled due to money issues, and sickness. I kept the reservation at John Yancey in hopes we could just take a ride stay a night and come home. However my step daughters husband got sepsis and is now in the Hospital waiting to have his foot amputated. So it was a series of unfortunate events that prevented us from coming. My sincerest apologies.

Please fix the stairwell door near room 128. It slams shut and woke us up several different times over the course of our two stay. Also, there was a constant smell of marijuana in our bathroom. Obviously your no smoking policy is enforced. My family will stay at another motel durning our next trip to once.

I could believe how simple check in was. The ocean view from my room was spectacular; I sat on the balcony quite some time not wanting to leave. Though it was a chilly and windy day, the roughness of the ocean waves was beautiful. The room is exceptionally clean and cozy. I’m so glad I came.

The buildings are older, but the rooms are redone. We were wondering how it would be once we were in the tight hallways, but once in the room it was good. Best part is hearing the ocean all night, being able to walk right to the beach and restaurants within walking distance. Parking can be tricky if you come back late. (Like after dinner)

Our room had been fully renovated and the decor was so "beachy", clean and crisp! Between the turquoise blue paint, trimmed in white, and the bathroom fixtures and vanity...it was classy and tastefully updated. The views from our balcony were incredible, and it was easy access to the beach. I love the new gazebo on the beach! We WILL be back in the future! Thanks for an awesome stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed at John yancey inn during our spring break in march. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again. The room seemed to be recently updated and was clean and spacious. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect, as it was close to several different tourist hot spots in the outer banks. Roanoke island was only 20-30 minutes. Right across the street from a great restaurant “kill devil grill” and walking distance from several others.

The view from our room was magnificent! Nothing better than being close enough to hear the surf and waking up each morning to a perfect ocean view! The room itself was very clean and well-maintained. However, it was a bit plain—as in no art on the walls. There was only one desk chair and a sofa to sit on. There was a desk and 2 nightstands, but the room seemed a bit empty. The building seems older and the elevator was quite squeaky. The staff was excellent and the communication from the hotel was clear and prompt. The continental breakfast was simple but adequate and there are many good restaurants close by. Overall, we had a lovely stay.
