Tiki of the Pines Private Ocean Access A-Frame
Tiki of the Pines is a small, 1969 A-Frame in the small oceanfront community of the Alpine Chalets. We are set in a forested, high-bank oceanfront 7-Acre setting at Otter Rock, along with 10 other privately owned chalets. The community shares a private path with access to the best surfing beach in the area!
Restored to a 1969 vibe, fans of vintage A-Frame villages, surfers, and free spirits will love this spot.
We won't be in your space during your stay, but are often nearby and have staff who can help in the event of an emergency. There is a groundskeeper (Lance) who lives full time on the Alpine Chalets property, in the event of emergency or security issues.
Otter Rock is a small community along the "Otter Crest Loop" a beautiful, scenic section of historic Highway 101 between Newport and Depoe Bay, Oregon. This whole section of the Oregon Coast is "high bank" Oceanfront, with most beach access by steep staircase. Our Alpine Chalets community is special for the 7 acre grounds (shared by only 11 separate Chalets) and for the hiking path down to the beach. The path is a bit steep at the top, but is generally easier to use than public access stairs in this area. Usually deserted and very private, that privacy changes for surf school! We are just south of the popular Otter Rock surfing beach and are perfect for your surf getaway. The old highway is close to Hwy 101.
1 mile North is public access for surfing, the Devils Punchbowl State Park, and Otter Rock Marine Preserve with tidepools. 8 miles south in Newport with shopping, a fishing fleet, charters, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
Car is recommended. We are on the Oregon Coast bicycle route; and would be a great stop for hard-care cyclists doing their dream 101 ride. No stairs into unit; main bedroom, bath and kitchen on one level. Please ask if you have accessibility concerns.

Five families reunion trip. Enjoyed our cozy cabins that were close, yet separate. Great time at the fire pit, walk to the beach. Dog friendly. Great hosts.
Beautiful little get away. My daughter and I came here on our annual girl trip. We loved the short walk to the beach. The little house was clean and nicely decorated. We had everything that we needed for our stay. We will definitely be back!
We had a lovely time. The retro furniture and tiki theme in the cabin was fun. It was clean and comfy. The kitchen had all the necessaries. We enjoyed the wooded path to the beach. Winter storms had washed out the steps at the bottom so that was a bit challenging to navigate, but I expect that is a temporary situation.
Great location for a nice beach walk, Newport, and Depoe Bay!
We really enjoyed the short walk to the beach. The overall facility was great, bed, bathroom, living room. We didn't use the loft area.
The livingroom& kitchen needed brighter light sources. It was hard to see to read a book.
The Tiki decorations were outstanding!
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay.
Heather and John were so accommodating as there were power outages in the are and terrible weather. They got us in another rental that had power. We felt well cared for! They did everything they could to make our stay the best in a bad situation. Both rental properties were great . Every thing you need for a beach getaway.
The location really can’t get better. A short downhill walk to the beach via private access makes this property. I also really appreciated the supplied wood. Although the walk would not be for those that have difficulties in walking up/downhill. You can walk to the Devil’s Punchbowl area from the beach. 10 min to Depoe Bay and 15min to Newport. The building is as advertised. Older but supplied well. It is a bit musty and with very steep stairs/ladder-like to the loft. Somehow I missed that the only bathroom access is in the bedroom which was a bit awkward with two couples.
The location is great, the walk down to the beach is nice, uphill to get back It's pretty dated, the couch and chairs and very old and uncomfortable, lots and lots of dust.
Our experience was super awesome, very relaxing, perfect for coming and going to see the sites. Being able to access the beach whenever we wanted, super private. Will be back for sure...
My girls and I stayed here for a few days and we had a lovely time. The location to the beach was amazing (maybe a 5 min walk with kids) and we had a great time.I have three girls so the two king size beds were perfect for us. If you have difficult sleepers it may be hard for you because Hwy 101 is so close and you can hear some traffic. But nothing that a sound machine can’t fix! I’m a light sleeper and I was fine. We’re hoping to plan another trip next summer with friends so we each can stay in one of the houses.
