Quiet Shell River Cabin

Our Cozy little cabin is the perfect getaway for all seasons. It is close to the tiny town of Osage and the Smokey Hills State Forest. The Shell River runs through the property providing the perfect relaxing background at the campfire. The large oaks provide beautiful green shade in the summer, an array of orange & yellow in the fall and a beautiful place for the frost and snow to settle in the winter.

A fantastic weekend at this riverside cabin
Staying at this private river property was very relaxing. It’s just as it appears in the pictures. A perfect blend of comfort and rustic charm. The cozy little cabin was well-appointed with all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay, including a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed, and a charming little sauna which unfortunately we didn’t utilize because we ran out of time. The property owner was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring that our stay was perfect. We can't wait to return to this hidden gem.

Converted Garage Cabin - Quaint but not perfect
My best friend and I stayed at the cabin for a weekend to get away from some of life’s troubles and distractions. The cabin itself is a re-modeled garage (as explained by a flyer in the building). The cabin was clean, once we managed to remove all of the invading ladybugs that are nesting somewhere either in the walls, or outside the building. The listing said there was a Hot Tub, but after confirming with Deana that there was NOT a hot tub on the property, it was removed from the listing. The listing also said there was a tub/ shower combo, but it is a standing shower only – and the water has a very Sulfuric smell to it. It stayed warm, and when it got too hot, we discovered we could only open two of the windows, as the rest of them had no screens installed. There was also a non-functioning deadbolt installed on the door, which had no curtain, so anyone standing outside could see straight into the bedroom (whose windows also had no curtains). Additionally, it SHOULD be noted that there is no Wi-Fi access in the building: we assumed there would have to be some kind of connectivity. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, made use of the firepit and the BBQ as well as the well-supplied kitchen. The place was clean, and warm and QUIET. It was exactly what we needed, at the time. It would have been nice to know up front about the Wi-Fi and the lack of security in the cabin, but overall, a decent stay.

much needed getaway
Was a reasonable rate and great location for exploring the area. It's always nice staying in a "home" vs a hotel room. This cabin had everything we needed.
