"This hotel had a truly lovely location, very close to the water and the old town area that was so charming. We loved the building itself, and the decor in the common breakfast area was beautiful. Our actual room, however, was much less inviting. We had a queen bed, which was just two twin beds pushed together, and the interior was really bare. I like minimalist decor, but this was just kind of depressing. Good lighting maybe could have improved the ambiance, but the lighting was atrocious across the board. Insanely bright, bare bulbs hung from the ceiling, and the tiny, cheap lamps all blasted bright white light. All of the windows faced enclosed terraces, so natural light wasn’t much to speak of. It’s a shame because, the building itself was beautiful, and with a little thought, the atmosphere of the place could really be amazing. They also had small inconveniences that added up…the towel warmer didn’t work, the toilet seat was not fitted on the toilet properly, the shower door seemed to be missing part of it, they had a kitchenette with no soap, sponge, or coffee cups. I hope the management puts a little bit of effort and thought into improving this place because it really has such great potential.
