Even though it is a beautiful, well-appointed home within walking distance of the beach, we were disappointed with the unexpected demands communicated upon our arrival and the inhospitable tone of our interactions with the property's representatives. (For 20 years, we have rented homes at least annually through several rental platforms and even done home-exchanges--so we do have relevant experience and points of comparison.) Upon arrival, we were greeted with a posted sign above the kitchen sink listing in detail the cleaning we are expected to do--including washing and drying bath mats, cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping the floors, and washing/drying/re-shelving the dishes--all by 10 a.m. on the date of departure. This exceeds any prior move-out instructions we have seen--even during the pandemic--and is inconsistent with the price point, which includes a generous cleaning fee. We took the to-do list seriously, and the cleaning took an hour longer than we expected on the date of departure. When departing, a woman arrived in her car and scolded us for leaving an hour late--there was no need for her to be rude. Half-an-hour into our drive to the airport, another representative called us. The purpose of the call was unclear but began by telling us we departed an hour late and revealed that our departure was captured on posted cameras. (How charming.) More helpfully, she did acknowledge the to-do list is not available on the Evolve listing. Fundamentally, there seems to be a disconnect between the product (a higher-end vacation rental) and the actual arrangement which felt more like a strict co-op of some kind. This is not what we look for in a vacation and certainly not at this price point.
