The best area to stay in Oltárc is the village centre, particularly around Fő utca (Main Street).

This area is the heart of Oltárc and offers the most convenient access to local amenities and the village's historic character. Fő utca is where you'll find the local church, a few traditional guesthouses, and often a small shop or two. The general layout is rural and spread out, with properties typically having gardens.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape often find this area ideal. It provides a quiet setting for relaxation, with opportunities for gentle walks in the surrounding countryside. You can enjoy the slow pace of village life and the natural beauty of Zala County from a comfortable base.

For those interested in exploring the natural landscape, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, but still within easy reach of Fő utca, can be beneficial. Many guesthouses are located amongst vineyards or offer views of the rolling hills, providing direct access to walking and cycling routes.

The best time to visit Oltárc is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Zala Hills and enjoying outdoor activities without the more intense heat of summer. You'll find the countryside lush and green in spring, great for walks or cycling, while autumn brings beautiful colours to the vineyards and forests.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will appreciate the relaxed atmosphere during these shoulder seasons. You can enjoy wine tasting at local vineyards, explore the historical sites nearby, or simply unwind in the serene surroundings. The area is less crowded than during peak summer, allowing for a more intimate experience.

Families travelling with children will also find these times enjoyable. The cooler temperatures are more comfortable for outdoor adventures like hiking or visiting local farms, and there's often space to run around and explore without feeling overwhelmed by other tourists.
