Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Odou?
The best area to stay in Odou is within the village itself, particularly around the central square and its surrounding streets.

Odou is a small, traditional Cypriot village located in the Larnaca District foothills, known for its unspoiled character and production of halloumi cheese and olive oil. The main square, with its historic church and small tavernas, forms the heart of the community. Accommodation options are typically renovated traditional houses, offering a quiet and authentic experience.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Odou ideal. The village offers a romantic setting with its stone-built architecture, narrow lanes, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It's a superb base for leisurely walks, enjoying local cuisine, and experiencing Cypriot village life away from the busier coastal resorts.

For those seeking a peaceful retreat, the areas just outside the village centre, often on hillsides, provide accommodation with expansive rural vistas. These spots offer even greater seclusion while still being a short stroll from the village amenities. It's superb for unwinding and enjoying the natural beauty of the region.
When is the best time to go to Odou?
The best time to visit Odou is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, making it ideal for exploring the village and its surroundings without the intense heat of the peak summer months. You'll find lush landscapes in spring and comfortable temperatures for hiking and enjoying outdoor activities in autumn.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, these shoulder seasons offer a quieter experience, allowing for relaxed strolls through the village's narrow streets and peaceful evenings. The vineyards are particularly beautiful during these times, superb for wine-tasting tours.

Families will also appreciate the milder weather, which is superb for children to enjoy outdoor adventures like nature walks and visiting nearby traditional craft workshops without being overwhelmed by the heat.
