With new restrictions and safety precautions to adhere to, travel looks a bit different right now. These are some helpful things to know before you get on that plane to Nuth:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before locking in your flight. Also check if there are any conditions you'll have to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
• When you pass through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly to confirm your identity. Passengers who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, you should place the pass on the scanner and then hold it up for inspection.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. You'll have to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• Place any personal items (phone, wallet and keys for example) in your carry-on instead of a bin to reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to handle and inspect your belongings.
