Nual Beach is a laid-back and charming beach that is far removed from the busy crowd of Pattaya. Relax on soft powdery sand, cool off in enticing water and enjoy uninterrupted views of the Bay of Bangkok. Nual Beach curves around a pretty bay located toward the southernmost tip of Koh Lan. It’s often called Monkey Beach because of the playful monkeys that inhabit the encompassing hills.
If you wish to relax then the 820-feet (250-metre) long Nual Beach is the place to do so. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available to rent along almost the entire length of the beach. Sit and gaze out across the glistening bay and watch as ferries and speedboats bob in the rippling water. Marvel at the picturesque and forested hills that frame either end of the bay. On a clear day you can see Pattaya’s coastline in the distance.
Enjoy an invigorating swim in the shallow and inviting water. Look down to spot schools of colourful fish dart around the seabed. Rent snorkeling equipment from the watersport’s centre and explore the multicolored coral reefs. Join a water-sled ride for some family-friendly and thrilling fun.
Walk up into the green hills at the western edge of the beach for sweeping views over the bay. Look out for the monkeys that jump playfully between the trees. Let a monkey climb onto your back for a great photo opportunity. The monkeys are wild so be careful when feeding them and keep an eye on your personal possessions.
Nual Beach is less than a 15-minute drive from Na Baan Pier, Koh Lan’s main ferry port. It’s easily reachable via affordable motorcycle taxis and baht buses (shard taxis). Alternatively, rent a scooter at the ferry port and spend a day visiting the island’s many beaches. Visit vibrant Samae Beach and the tranquil northern beaches of Sangwan Beach and Thong Lang Beach.
Koh Lan’s consistently mild climate makes Nual Beach a year-round attraction. There are several hut-style bars and restaurants, which serve light snacks and refreshments.
