Outstanding service and an awesome hotel. The staff went out of their way to help and make us feel welcome; especially Gemma and June, who were incredible when we needed an issue resolving prior to our stay. The hotel is perfect for families and couples. Everything is on site, the bar is friendly and comfortable, the pool is great and our family room was huge and perfect. The location was excellent and just a short distance from the city centre and the zoo. Thank you to all all St David’s for making our stay so enjoyable.

Very dated rooms, bar and restaurant pleasant, staff very good. But the room was a big surprise. Worse twin room I’ve stayed in for a long time.

Value for money
Stayed over with the Mrs for a night in Chester. For the price we paid I can’t fault the hotel. Brilliant value for money. Was even upgraded on arrival and given access to the gym and pool for free (we didn’t use them though). The only faults we could find were the lack of plugs in the room, 1 double socket at the far side of the room and there a no ceiling lights so the room is very very dark.

Staff are lovely and helpful.
The staff at the hotel were great. During our stay Christmas Eve and Christmas Day the hotel was busy, and the food on Christmas Day was good. The bar/restaurant area has big screens for avid sports fans for people staying and people coming to have a drink/food and watch and enjoy. Not our cup of tea but large hotels like these have to offer a range of facilities to be financially viable. It has a well equipped gym and spa area with a pool which my son enjoyed. The hotel decor in some areas and rooms is a bit tired and need a refurb but, it did its job and we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Great place. Cracking health club and sports bar area. Bed really comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Room and corridors a bit tired, but all worked fine. Great staff at checkin and at breakfast. We would stay here again. Great price. Breakfast worth the money.

Really lovely stay. Minor complaint would be check in we used the screens then still needed someone to assist. This made the screens pointless other than that lovely stay.

The disabled parking area was full with mainly NON disabled people because no badges showing. Saw a young van driver pull into last one and got out with his gym kit! Immediately after arriving I reported our toilet not flushing. Nobody came so we had to use public toilets in the gym area. Late day two a lady came and explained the flushing was old in our room and difficult to use! Despite this on day two we had same issue and couldn’t flush

Busy hotel near main road.
A busy place with a large bar/gym both popular with locals + conference rooms , lots of families and white van people. Very near to the busy dual carriageway A494. Food not a problem - 3 takeaways + 2 small Co-op supermarkets all within 10 minutes walk. Our room was clean and tidy but our first night was marred by shouts, bangs etc. from a very noisy school group on the same floor. We told Reception who then asked the teachers to control the rowdy kids which thankfully, they did. Odd that the details say this Ewloe hotel is in Hawarden which is actually 2 miles away. OK if you need somewhere with easy access to the A494/A55.

Dont bothet unclean and a massive disappointment
Dont bother waste of money its so unclean and the smell of the carpets are terrible the pool is disgusting and also changing rooms unclean and smells. The room was disgusting. I did complain but was met with the most unhelpful person. We got our stuff and left we booked in to another place Would of liked a refund but no one would help

Check in staff helpful (but had not remembered there were stairs to the room from the lift; I was using a stick to walk. ) They did offer to move us when we mentioned this later but we were already settled and we did not want to make more work for the housekeeping staff. Restaurant staff, especially Heather and who was on Monday morning excellent. Made sure I was not seated at a high table or too far from buffet as I was walking with a stick. The only down sides were some of the Australian childrens footbal group. On Monday at breakfast they were changing tables (and thus using cutlery from more than one) and wandering, without paying attention, in the way of other guests carrying hot food or drinks. The only place in the room to charge any equipment was one low down plug. Even Travelodge have more accessible charging points!

Very tired and dated decor. Breakfast was poor - limited choice beyond English breakfast, lacking quality ingredients, bland. Room furniture worn out. Carpets have seen better days !

Property was very dated, basic rooms, close to highway so noisy, there was a large party all night. No where to fill up my water bottle, tap in bathroom was broke, light bulbs out in bathroom and furniture in communal area was old, stained and broken

Okay if you are limited for options
Parking is decent but rooms are woeful and very dated. No plug sockets near the bed which is very frustrating. Breakfast staff are rude but evening staff seemed nice enough. Food is the bar is okay but drinks are very overpriced. Restaurant/bar gets very busy so can be difficult to actually get a table to eat. Probably wouldn’t stay again to be honest.

Nice enough
The hotel was nice enough. Fairlh clean altjough there were several insects (spiders and a bettle).in the room. Probably encouraged by the decor.

We had a good room with a brilliantly comfortable bed. The lighting was poor for reading. The Bar and Grill was noisy , with enormous TV screens, and very high prices. At breakfast, it was even noisier and at times quite congested when collecting food. The food for breakfast was good.
