The property is under construction, no use of pool, gym is small for a large hotel, main area was dirty from construction. Hotel services were very limited. Surrounding town is still struggling with restaurant servers and crime issues. Was followed on my run by two guys in a car then they circled back to drive along me again- do not stay here alone as a female or go out alone ever. Stay on other side of water in Norfolk

The staff was very friendly made me and my son feel welcome. When I first arrived an got to my room I didn't know how the shower work the front desk sent Terry the engineer and he showed me how it work. They were really nice and we enjoyed our stay

The desk clerk at check in was very nonchalant, I didn’t feel welcomed at all. The room was average and hot even though we put the thermostat on 65. I didn’t realize they just opened the hotel in January I wish I would’ve known that.

The property was under renovations, and honestly I originally was unhappy, but the staff was so amazing. I have to say I would stay at this hotel anytime any day.

Beautiful hotel. Anthony at the bar made me feel welcome and provided a great experience. I had the she crab soup and it was wonderful. The young man and young lady at the front desk took care of me and were friendly. The room is nice, had my name on the tv when I walked in. Thank you Renaissance, I will be back.

Outside of getting woken up from screaming and yelling from another couple staying at the hotel and the extremely long time for security to finally come and take care of the situation, no housekeeping, only one outlet working in the room, having to unplug the tv to turn it fully off and the terribly expensive breakfast, the front desk staff was awesome, the view from the room was amazing and the rooms were comfortably clean.

We booked here hoping to get a really good rest before our 18 hour drive home the next morning. The bed and pillows were comfortable but there was a loud fan outside our window that made a terrible squeaking/screeching noise constantly. We each only got a few hours sleep because of this. Not sure how far away thos noise could be heard from but I imagine the room below ours is even worse since the fan is closer to that level. These rooms should not be used until the dan is fixed!

Hotel is right on the water, but in a random area. Some homeless people around. Hotel was nice and the bar and grill was nice. Biggest complaint is the door to the bathroom was a sliding barn door style... bad idea with no exhaust fan.

The hotel is in an interesting place - right on the waterfront im Portsmouth. Access to the ferry that goes across to Norfolk is right out the door so extra handy. Our room was adequate but nothing special - a desk was placed right in front of the window, making sightseeing of boat activity difficult. The bathroom was roomy and a very nice shower. We were handed a sheet explaining services provided and one was 'refreshing' of room on a daily basis, which didn't occur and was disappointing. We also had to get assistance on operation of the TV - the sound wouldn't come on and so requested that someone look at it while we were gone during the day. We went one evening without sound so had to use closed captioning. All-in-all, a decent stay but not 4 star.
