"A lovely, well-equipped house in a stunning location with its own fabulous garden. Brilliant for our family group of 10. Lots to do locally. The gem museum, gem mine, Celtic settlement were great trips and the open-air swimming pool in Rhaunen was much enjoyed. We visited Herrstein twice! Klaus and Anna were really helpful hosts. Great Property…Killer view!

"A wonderful hotel with a view that could not be matched in the area. The room was comfortable and the air conditioning was a godsend as it was quite warm outside. The view from the terrace should not be missed. The property is a stone’s throw from old castle ruins (free) and an underground sandstone quarry (there is an admission fee), as well as a short walk from the old town. Full disclosure: the hotel is on the top of a hill. While the walk into town was all downhill and relatively easy, the walk back up to the hotel could be viewed as somewhat strenuous."

"Just back from a visit to Idar-Oberstein. Parking was easy, I arrived after 10pm so reception was closed but a staff member was able to quickly get me checked in. Room was perfect for my stay. Hotel is close to the Felsenkirche and castles. The Norma shop is 2 minutes walk away and there are several places to eat in the square."
