About this property
3 Bed in Port William (oc-s45456)
Set in the traditional fishing village of Port William along the shore of Luce Bay, this light-filled, stylishly decorated cottage makes a fantastic holiday base for families, couples and friends eager to explore a tranquil corner of Dumfries and Galloway. Known for its rich maritime history, Port William has a bustling harbour, a shop and cafe, as well as the famous bronze statue of a fisherman looking out to sea. Nature lovers and walkers can explore the Machars Peninsula, a haven for wildlife, with the nearby Monreith Beach (2 miles) providing a great spot for glimpsing seals and otters. Heading inland, highlights include Whithorn, Scotland’s earliest Christian settlement, the Drumtroddan Standing Stones and the Galloway Astronomy Centre, all within 8 miles. Heading north you can explore the ruins of Glenluce Abbey (15 miles) or sample the local produce at the popular Bladnoch Distillery and Visitor Centre (9.5 miles).
Stepping inside this delightful property, an inviting entrance porch leads through to a welcoming hallway and along to a bright and airy kitchen/diner. With ample equipment and patio doors allowing light to stream in, the tastefully presented kitchen is fully equipped, with plenty of storage and workspace, and with a charming central dining table perfect for family get-togethers. The ground floor of this spacious retreat also features a refreshing shower room and two cosy bedrooms: a cheerful twin with Amazon Echo, and a relaxing super-king-size room with a Smart TV and Amazon Echo. Stairs lead up and directly into the generous lounge, beautifully furnished and warmly decorated, with skylights in the low sloping ceilings offering peaceful sea views. The lounge has ample seating and a Smart TV alongside a cosy wood burner, perfect for a quiet night in. From the lounge, a door leads through to the final bedroom – a lovely double with a Smart TV, Amazon Echo and a soothing en-suite bathroom. Please note the characterful first floor has some restricted head height.
From the kitchen a few steps lead down and into the serene and enclosed garden. With ample outdoor furniture, this is an ideal spot for dining alfresco and taking in the tranquil views out to sea. Unrestricted parking can be found along the road.
