Nestled in a holler, The Creek House offers serene mountain views and peaceful sounds of water cascading over boulders. Enjoy hiking, fishing or skiing nearby while savoring the tranquility that comes with it.
NOTE: The cabin was spared by Hurricane Helene. However the surrounding areas of Avery County sustained significant damage and continue to be hard at work cleaning up and rebuilding. Choosing to rent our cabin and spend your vacation in areas that were affected by the hurricane will help the economy of these communities allowing them to rebuild and recover faster.
We named our space "The Creek House" because of the bold creek that flows down the hill from the cabin. The home is located in a holler with views of the mountains in the distance. It is peaceful with sounds of water cascading over the boulders. You might also hear the occasional neighing & mooing of our neighbors on the farm next door! The area offers hiking, fishing, skiing, tubing, gem mining, Zip lining, Utving, dining, antique shopping, wine tastings at local vineyards, etc.

I brought my family to the mountains to be tourists for a few days. As soon as I pulled in I heard the water. I was in Heaven. My grandsons immediately found the “playground” and wore themselves out. We went inside and they discovered the toy chest. That was a huge hit. Played checkers with grandson. We grilled out on the deck and everyone had a turn on the hammock. I loved not having TVs as a distraction. The bathroom was beautifully tiled. Plenty of towels, TP, and paper towels. That being said the vanity left no knee room for toilet. I slept well on the twin bed. Only bedroom complaint was no door between the two front bedrooms. I would still stay here again if we come again to Newland. The welcome binder was very helpful and informative.
This place is a hidden gem! I loved how authentic it is. It has a great collection of books, records and art. The furniture and decor left me overwhelmed. A neighbor's dog made friends with us and came to visit daily. We miss Queeny already! And the promised kid- and dog-friendliness is no joke! My son begged us to stay and live in that house forever
The Creek Cabin is quaint, cozy, and clean with everything that you need! Our post Christmas stay highlights were enjoying the property with rushing creek and horses next door, playing board games together (there is no TV), and skiing at nearby Sugar Mtn. It is remote and we were happy to have arrived before dark because Old Toe road is treacherous and the winding roads are dark. Beds were comfy and the heated floor is a huge bonus!!!
We would definitely stay again! Thank you!
Refrigerator was dirty. Everything else was great.

Liked the rustic outside and the modern inside. The deck area and creek was lovely, but deck furniture needed a fresh coat of paint and the downspouts were not attached. We would have liked a toaster and a TV. We didn't see the message book about the fans until the last day and it was very humid. We would definitely stay there again, but not in the middle of summer. Also need some lightning in the front, the steps were a bit tricky after dark and there was abit of mold around the shower and sinks.Your house is lovely and we had a great time. Thanks for letting us stay!
We LOVED staying here. The energy of the property was so peaceful and pleasant. We were surrounded by birds, including hummingbirds, and a couple cute chipmunks. There's also a horse who grazes in the field next to the property. Playing in the creek was a blast, and we loved the spacious fire pit.
I have never slept so good outside of my own bed!! Each night we all had amazing deep sleep - I'm sure partly due to the sound of the flowing water from the creek that runs beside and behind the house.
We were within 30 minutes of multiple mountain towns and fun adventures and didn't have to ride far to explore, sight see, eat or shop.
The house was clean and cozy. There were loose leaf teas to enjoy and complimentary coffee in addition to a fully stocked kitchen.
My daughter (well all of us, heh) really enjoyed all the games, toys, and craft supplies that were available to use. The owners of this property seem truly thoughtful and wanted us to feel right at home while we were there.
We can't wait to come back!
I was here for a few weeks while finishing my house. The property was beautiful & quiet. I was able to sleep with the windows open and listen to the stream. I had my dogs and the property was perfectly set up. I would definitely stay here again.
My family had a wonderful time staying at this super cute, tucked away spot in the North Carolina mountains. I especially love the sound of the rushing creek that can be heard inside when the windows are open. While we totally felt "on retreat", town and tourist destinations were a quick drive and easy to find. I highly recommend the bridge at Grandfather Mountain for an awe inspiring view. Honestly, all of the hiking options are amazing. We'll be back - still have to try zip lining! Thanks for a great weekend away.
