Very old, never renovated rooms. Literally feels like you’re walking into a hotel from the 90s. The lobby is nice and elegant, but that’s about it. If you’re looking for a place to just stay/sleep, it’s fine. Not ideal for a hotel staycation. You’d have to buy everything else outside, including tea, coffee, water, hot water especially. Nothing is really provided other than the basics. I don’t think I’ll be staying at this hotel, again.

NYC has changed with all of the illegal immigrant's roaming the city. Nice hotel but rough outside. I lived in NYC for thirty years. Glad I moved.

They sold out of my room type and gave me a downgrade, despite saying it was an upgraded view. The staff was a bit rude about policies that had not been communicated at check-in. The property is old, and shows it's age. The location is so convenient though - walked around all day and it was central enough to be able to drop things off and refresh between outings. Also, attended a game at MSG, and arrived via Penn Station which are right there. Might book again, but will need to be sure to get a discount again: it is not worth it at full price, especially not if the sell out of rooms and don't even offer a proper discount themselves.

The room I stayed in was absolutely nothing like the images in the booking. Overall it was pretty run down (cracked paint, damp in bathroom, old-fashioned and dull). Badly needed updating. Room was very small, much smaller than expected. Having stayed here twice in the past, admittedly over 10 years ago, I was very disappointed. The room I stayed in 12 years ago was more modern than this one. I brought a friend this time and frankly I was embarrassed.

This is a very good property. I felt very safe at the hotel and liked how close it was to transportation options. It's older (but has good updates) and has a lot of history. An iconic venue.

Good place to stay for the price if you aren’t super picky. I’d stay here again. No frills. No water bottles in the room, but luckily there is a CVS very close by, so we bought several bottles of water for our stay. We paid an extra $20 a night for an “executive room” that seemed like a normal small room with a mini fridge. The staff was friendly enough and the Tick Tock cafe next door had decent food and service. Not a good place to get picked up by Ubers because of the congestion and traffic in the area, especially during concerts at Madison square garden, but really easy to catch the subway from Penn station. The hotel had a lot of elevators which made it really easy to get to and from our room at all hours.

The bathtub was rough from patchwork so my wife and I had to stand on a towel in the shower. The showers also burned my children. The temperature would change on its own to scolding hot. The room was clean but the furniture and fixtures need some attention. I spoke with the front desk and manager who took my information down and said he would address the hot water incident.

The lobby is beautiful but the hallways look old and dirty. The room was clean. There’s no coffee maker or fridge in the room. The surrounding area wasn’t as nice as the hotel but nothing the hotel can do about that. Staff was pleasant enough but seemed to be hating their jobs. On site restaurants were fantastic!

The location is excellent, easy access to trains, LIRR, shopping like Macy’s and Times Square. The hotel is also amazingly quiet once you enter the lobby and corridors. The building is old as shown by the carpet in the corridor. But overall we do find this aged look charming. Also housekeeping is very responsive and we just call them before leaving the room for cleaning service. Overall a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay again in the future!

The New Yorker’s location is allows for convenient access to Manhattan sites / restaurants etc. The Hotel is however quite dated and little investment seems to have been made to refurbish the property in a while. Amenities are basic. Hotel lobby is always extremely crowded, but the staff try and help as best as they can. The hotel charges for early check-in.

Overall experience was great. The hotel is in the middle of Manhattan. Great location, good staff, easy check in! They also have a luggage service in case you arrive earlier.
