What a great hotel!.. so pleased with the friendliness, attentiveness, and support from the staff… feels like a bit of a throwback to a classic era from the minute you walk in the door!

Location is excellent. Check-in staff was great and gracious enough to give us an upgrade. Gym is open 24x7 with water and towels alway available. On the flip side, Elevators look old and it’s difficult to read the floor numbers. There was only 1 USB connection in the whole room ! Bathroom doesn’t have a phone - I had an incident where I got locked in the bathroom and the door would not open - An unsettling experience!

A faded gem no longer 5-star.
Stayed here in business. Great location in Midtown next to Central Park. This was obviously a gem of a hotel in its heyday but not anymore, threadbare corridor carpets and fading paintwork give the place a rundown feel. The staff are amazing, courteous and responsive, well most of them. The food is average my shrimp tasted of chlorine, the room service waiter who returned to collect my tray just barged into my room without ringing the bell!! There were no bath towels in the room. I offered my feedback to the front desk which the courteously accepted but didn’t respond to. I travel a lot on business and pleasure, I get to stay in a lot of very nice hotels, The Pierre is not 5-star, I’d give it 3.5 at best, absolutely trading on past glory and desperately in need of refurbishment.

We live in NYC and had NYE plans around the corner from The Pierre and they are pet “small dog” friendly. We pulled up to unload on the 61st Street entrance just before 3pm and there was only one porter at the time assisting a large party who were departing. My impression was they were short staffed and did not appreciate having to wait 10’ to be assisted. Needless to say I was surprised. My wife checked in and waited for me to return from parking before heading up to the room. Crystal, escorted us up to our room which which was already outfitted with dog beds and dog bowls. Nice touch…This king sized deluxe room was on the 12th floor and had scaffolding outside the windows. As I mentioned earlier, we live in NYC and looking at scaffolding is not what we paid $1300 per night to look at. Anyway, we asked Crystal what floor the scaffolding ended at (14) and we wanted to be above it. She left and returned with keys to a room above the scaffolding on the 16th floor. No scaffolding, nice enough room, very clean. No dog amenities in this room which was fine as we brought beds and bowls of our own. Our NYE seating was 9:30pm so we got some food from Serafina down the block as room service food prices were unreasonably high and took naps. Bedding, mattress specifically, was outstanding. Everyone is different but for us this mattress was notable. We wanted to stay someplace as my birthday in on the first and walkable to the restaurant. Staying at The Pierre was nice to do once.

The property is in a terrific location. The service is lacking. From the time I walked in no one looked up from their phones to say good evening. Not once when I walked in did anyone (4 ppl minimum at the front desk and concierge) ever looked up and acknowledged my presence or asked to assist with luggage etc. Product is clean but definitely old and tired.

Historic Hotel !
Hotel occupies only part of this building with private apartments on most levels. Dated in layout and amenities ie. no USB sockets for charging, poor access to fitted wardrobe, no draw space. Biggest issue was temperature of room and noise. Heating was far too high with noisy fan over radiator. Only way to lower temperature was then to turn on air conditioning which was then even noisier! Good location for Central Park & Museums, very pricy for what it offers

Our stay was fine, but for an expensive five star hotel it was extremely disappointing. The welcome was more as one would find at a Red Roof Inn than a five star hotel on Central Park. There was no one in the lobby upon our arrival and when someone came out, they told us we would need to wait for a manager's approval because we arrived after 9pm. Additionally, our room wasn't ready so we has to wait about 15 minutes. When we headed to our room, about five bellmen and hotel operators fought with us and took our bags against our will. The room was very small and you couldn't sit properly on the toilet because the vanity is in the way. The bed is terribly soft, making for terrible sleep, and the temperature of the room would oscillate between too hot and too cold. When we left, the hotel tried to add charges to our bill and only relented when we objected. Also, upon leaving, we found out there was car service and other amenities that were not explained to us.
