Cute, charming and rustic space for a weekend in gruene! We enjoyed sitting out on the patio after an awesome meal at the Gristmill and post show at Gruene Hall ---all within 1 mile!

Great stay!
My husband and I really enjoyed staying in the Root Cellar. It was clean, comfy and plenty of amenities. Close enough to town for convenience but without the noise. A great place to stay when visiting Gruene!
Such a unique place to stay. The pool is fabulous and great communication the property manager. A mile from gruene and great access to San Antonio or hill country!
My two teens and I stayed here when we came to visit Texas State and do some antique shopping… Great location!! Everyone needs to duck upon entering! Lol the doorway definitely showed the age of the property (I am 5’7”!)

The Root Cellar
This is an amazing place to stay! It was convenient to all of the local hot spots in New Bransfuels and Gruene was right down the road. We slept 4 people comfortably and they provided enough towels to last our stay. We enjoyed having the ice machine on site, the pool and porch were fabulous. It is a great option if you are traveling with pets. I will definitely be staying here again.
My family and I stayed at the Root Cellar and it was a good little spot for us. The overall location is close to so many things, a mile from Gruene, two miles to great float locations, very convenient. Our only negative was the kitchenette. We've stayed at Vrbo's with kitchenettes, however this was the first that didn't have plates/silverware to even hand wash. The instructions to prep for our stay mentioned to bring extra paper products, but did not mention to bring paper plates/utensils. Other than that we had a great time!
I took a short family trip to New Braunfels, mostly for Schlitterbahn, with my three children (all teens/preteens) and my girlfriend, and we stayed in the Root Cellar two nights. It was beyond perfect for our needs! We loved the unique layout of the room, with two twin beds in the root cellar itself, and found that, even without dividing doors or partitions, the suite-like layout provided us with enough privacy.
They type of building created for the exact old time country motif feel with a few modern amenities. It was perfect! Loved the loose deer on the campgrounds… looks like a great place for family reunions. Downside, no coffee filters, no toaster, bathroom door needs adjusted keeps opening. Toilet dispenser is falling off cabinet. And precious guests sandals found under bed.
This is such a unique property to stay in! We loved every bit of it. The front porch and wildlife add to the peaceful setting. All of the stone inside is so cool. Great place for a good family bonding as open as the Floor plan is. We will absolutely be back!

Rustic charm
This was a great location as we were just enough removed from the busy-ness of downtown New Braunfels but close enough to everything we wanted. Blacks BBQ is 2 minutes down the road and Buttermilk Cafe (amazing breakfast spot) was straight down the road. River access is close by as well.
The property was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the large porch and sat on the porch swing every night. The Root Cellar cabin gave us just enough space to spread out and not feel cramped. Our 14 year old daughter loved staying in the cellar portion of the cabin. We were provided an abundance of towels which was much appreciated. We would stay at this property again.

Reveiw
Always love our stay in the Root Cellar. We would want you all to know that the toilet seat is broken.
Thank you,
READ if you are booking:I’m a fellow host myself. 5 stars for location, 5 stars for Allison(the host), and 5 stars for the esthetically pleasing property. They only have mugs and a cork screw. Plenty for us and only has 1 thing of coffee to make. It’s dumb to even consider taking off a star for that just a heads up to ask for more if you are a coffee drinker but really you need to go explore local coffee shops if you are. No brainer! She does let you know to bring plastic ware such as plates etc.. because they don’t provide those things. They do have shampoo and conditioner. Plenty towels were provided. Overall. It was nice if you are just going to be in and out a lot. Comfy beds but not a place for lounging inside all day! You pay for the location not the place itself. So just don’t have crazy expectations but it still exceeded mine.
