About this property
Relax Amidst Nature On Clear Creek
Clear Creek Cabin is located in the scenic Driftless Area of Northeast Iowa.
As you walk out the doors of the secluded cabin you will find a spring-fed, one acre pond. Complete with bluegill, bass and catfish. There is also 70 feet of white sand beach. Hike 100 yards and you will find 3.2 miles of the Clear Creek trout stream. If you enjoy hiking or hunting, the cabin is adjacent to 800 acres of public hunting land.
For cyclists, The Mississippi River Trail is nearby. More fishing is also located in the Upper Iowa and Mississippi Rivers. And there are many area golf courses and snowmobile trails. Scenic beauty abounds!
And that is just the outdoors.
Clear Creek Cabin boasts 2,700 sq ft of cozy hardwood excellence. The rustic good looks of the original cabin that was built in 1873 (with another log frame addition in 1885 and a modern addition in 2000) is combined with all the modern amenities you would want.
Start your relaxing stay with a full, restful night of sleep in one of the 5 bedrooms. Choose from a king pillow top, queen, full or one of four twin XL beds or twin bunk bed. There are two plush-top futons. One in the balcony/den and another in an upstairs bedroom. There is even a crib for your infant.
A modern heat and air conditioning system will keep you at the right temperature as you wake up. Next you may find a hot shower or a soak in the tub is in order. Choose from one of the three full baths; one with a shower, one with a shower/tub and another with a shower/tub. Don't forget to drop your bath towel in the towel warmer so it is ready when you get out!
The smell of a hot cup of coffee or tea (or maybe even a "lumberjack" breakfast) are easily in the realm of possibilities for the full kitchen. It has all of the large and small appliances you will need during your stay. There is a full set or dishes and utensils and even a charcoal grill on the flagstone patio outside the back door.
Enjoy your meals on the porch or at the picnic table overlooking the pond or in the large dining room. With seating for 10 at the reclaimed lumber (that my Great-Grandfather milled many years ago) dining room table, there is sure to be ample space for all.
Relax in the living room with reclining seating for 10 guests. This room has a 55 inch SMART TV to connection to all your favorites on Netflix, Amazon, Disney or YouTube. You may also enjoy complimentary high speed, fiber optic Wi-Fi for your mobile devices and Wi-Fi enabled phone calls. Or you could follow the kids upstairs to play with the various toys including the 3 foot tall doll house.
This property has something for everyone. Now, go explore!

What a wonderful place. Beautiful, quiet, well maintained. The cabin was clean and welcoming. The host also goes above and beyond, mowing hiking trails around the cabin, leaving notes of what to do around. The pond was crystal clean. The little touches like hammocks, picnic benches and a fire pit are the icing on the cake with this stay! There were clear instructions on what to do for check in and check out. Though we were only 5 that stayed, a much larger family(ies) would have so much room here to hang out.
We brought our extended family here as a gift to my in-laws, and it did not disappoint. There was more than enough room for 14 people, and having three nice bathrooms was great. This place is remote enough to truly get away from it all but close enough to towns to do things (like shop or tube the river).
From booking through the end of the trip, we had great communication with our host. The kids enjoyed the water, whether swimming, fishing, or kayaking. The adults relaxed and took advantage of the nearby trails.
Amazing place to get away...unplug and enjoy family!! The scenery of this secluded slice of heaven is like no other! Would highly recommend this to anybody and we hope to return!
Thank you Ryan
The log cabin and number of beds are attractive. The serene nature of the pond with a sugar sand beach is the greatest attraction. Swimming, paddle boat, fishing are all part of the great experience.
This property is one of a kind! The pond is perfect for kids to play and fish. Wonderful view while drinking coffee on the porch in the mornings was a great way to start the day. A lot of wildlife to see and trout fishing close by kept everyone busy! The house is stocked with anything you might need for cooking. The owners were very easy to communicate with. If you’re looking for a very quiet, secluded vacation this is the place!
We had great time at what we refer to as the pond cabin. It's a beautiful setting and kids and adults can find plenty to do. We fished, kayaked, had campfires, cooked and ate outside. The weather was in the 70's in August, but it didn't stop the kids from getting in the water. They spent hours building and digging in the sand. They all want to go back.
We had 4 families all under 1 roof for 3 nights and it was perfect! There was plenty of space inside and outside for everyone to get along. The pond was amazing and very fun for everyone to catch fish and swim. The washer and dryer was a great addition to keep up with towels and swim wear. Without a doubt the pond was the favorite. We brought kids kayaks and a few tubes and we were set for the long weekend. No one had anything bad to say about our stay and we’ve already discussed coming back!!
This was the perfect getaway for our extended family to go to and focus on each other. The pond was stocked with fish for everyone to catch. There were beautiful trails to walk on and soak in the beauty and quiet of the surroundings. We played the board games together and just enjoyed each other instead of social media or our regular distracted days back at home. There was plenty of room for our 18 guests to stay. We cooked every meal and had campfires every night. I only wish we would have stayed longer!
This was our third stay at Clear Creek Cabin, and everything was great! This place provides lots of privacy, and is very scenic. We love the spring-fed pond, and the sandy beach is perfect for little kids of all ages. The pond is also great for paddle boarding and for teaching kids how to fish! Our family uses the large dining room and living room throughout the day, and we also grill or cook all our meals while we are there. A well-stocked kitchen provides all the dishes, glasses and cooking utensils that you would need. Ryan, our host, is always very responsive, and knowledgeable.
Everyone enjoyed our time at Clear Creek, and we would not hesitate to come back again for another stay!
We Loved our family get together at Clear Creek Cabin. The grounds were beautiful all nestled in the hills. Oppertunities to hike and explore. Evenings by a campfire and sharing family time and playing outdoor games. Inside the home was large and beautiful with the original cabin connected to a newer build. We spent many hours at the large table eating meals and playing board games. Enough bedrooms and space along with 3 bathrooms to make us all comfortable. The kitchen was nicely stocked with all the supplies we needed. We had a mild winter to enjoy this location and would stay here again. The owners were wonderful with their comunication and to work with.
This cabin is exactly as described! Our whole family loved it-perfect for a family reunion. We had space to spread out in the house and on the pond. The dining table was large enough for all 10 of us to enjoy meals together and play some games! First time for that on a vacation. Ryan was very available to help when we had a possible storm issue. Appreciate the communication! Kitchen is very well stocked. The kayaks were great-we now have some people wanting to purchase! The only suggestion we had was to change out the futons to beds when you’re able to. We plan on returning to this little piece of paradise in Iowa!
We had 9 adults and 7 children age 7-17. The bedroom situation did not really fit our needs but made it work with sleeping on couches and air mattresses. I feel the advertising of sleeping 18 was a real stretch. We greatly enjoyed the pond for fishing-we had never seen such big fish! The area is beautiful and remote and we loved the wildlife and birds. The kitchen was well stocked. Ryan answered all questions right away and was easy to communicate with. The narrow winding stairs to two of the bedrooms was neat and historical but difficult to navigate for the 4 adults that slept in that area, especially with no bathroom upstairs. The front porch was great and we spent a lot of time there. I would recommend this property for 10 people and be sure to bring bug spray!
Let me start with the undeniably AMAZING things about this property; The scenery alone was gorgeous, including your very own secluded pond and beach area to enjoy at your leisure. The house, having been built in the 1800s, was incredibly unique, including 2 separate 2nd story areas and enough space for our large family to stay comfortably. The hiking trails were fun, fishing was great, wildlife was unbelievable and the hanging hammock chairs near the beach are now currently in my Amazon cart!
As far as the actual stay, there was definitely a lot of extra planning and pre-packing of items usually included in a rental. No outdoor chairs, beach towels, laundry detergent and a desperately needed fresh dish sponge are provided. The poor lighting in the entire kitchen badly needs to be upgraded. There’s beautiful string lights on the front porch but we were unfortunately told there was no extension cord to actually plug them in….All of the kayaks/canoes disappointingly had a daily rental fee and each bundle of firewood needed to be separately purchased. Between the both relentless biting flies and mosquitos, be sure to bring bug repellent that can be sprayed around the entire area - definitely something I wish we would have brought!
This property was beautiful and a wonderful place to simply be together as a family and relax whether that was sitting on the front porch rocking chairs with a hot cup of coffee or kayaking around the pond searching for turtles and other great
Owner was very responsive and accommodating. The cabin was great. The outdoors was so serene and scenic. We had a larger group with an extended family vacation and there was plenty room for everyone to sleep as well as room to spread out! We would definitely stay again!
