Summary:
Welcome history buffs and connoisseurs of luxury design! Chic Luxury at The 1865 beckons you to embark on a time-traveling adventure.
The Space:
This one-of-a-kind stay is nestled withing the walls of a Civil War era building, once a thriving tobacco auction house in the growing city of Nashville. Guests are sure to fall in love with the seamless blend of old-world allure and modern opulence found throughout the 46-unit building, not to mention its desirable location in the heart of the city. Expect an elevated getaway experience thanks to impeccable style AND luxurious onsite amenities like the community pool and fitness center.
Converting a historic building into a modern masterpiece is no simple task, but The 1865 did it just right! Exposed brick walls, trusses, and beams are all original features, honoring the significant past of the property, while modern, vintage, and eclectic furniture and art blended together to create a dreamy, boutique-style stay. The result? Historic preservation with thoughtfully curated spaces for guests to enjoy.
This unique unit is located in the building’s basement level, providing a level of privacy and seclusion that will allow guests to enjoy the deepest possible rest. Because of its lower-level location, this unit features exposed stone walls that are the very foundation of the building. The rich stone detail is an aesthetic delight, and also a grounding feature that creates unmatched coziness. Not to mention, staying in the foundation of this building further enriches the experience of staying on a property that is foundational to the history of Nashville. Thoughtfully placed lighting creates a soft and restful mood, while the unit’s expert design offers an open-concept main living area to maximize quality time amongst guests. The living room provides ample seating, a smart TV, and eye-catching details in the room’s art and textiles. Steps away, the kitchen comes fully equipped with a suite of stainless steel appliances and necessary cookware to whip up a meal from home, which can be enjoyed at the kitchen bar with seating for 4.
This home sleeps 4 guests between 1 private bedroom and a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. The bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed and boasts the same unique character found throughout the home. Guests will also find a quaint bonus room which can serve as additional living space or a quiet room for working and reading.

Very good

Overall, we had a good stay and enjoyed many aspects of this rental. The space was nicely decorated, very cute, and generally comfortable. However, there were a few drawbacks that became more noticeable over a longer stay. While we knew when booking that there was only one window, it did start to feel a bit dark and somewhat depressing after being there for an extended period of time.Additionally, the walls are very thin. We could clearly hear plumbing from the unit above us, including flushing toilets, footsteps, and other large movements, which impacted the overall sense of privacy. There were also a couple of professionalism concerns. On one occasion, two individuals unexpectedly entered the rental using the door code, stating they had permission to tour the unit, but we were not notified ahead of time. On another occasion, we were asked to accommodate a maintenance visit early in the morning, which felt disruptive. While the place itself is charming and had its positives, these issues were surprising given the price. Overall, it was a decent stay, but there were several inconveniences that future guests may want to consider.
Property was great and the listing description was spot on. Check in was a little difficult because the email I received was for the wrong unit number. A quick call to VRBO got this resolved but because of an incoming storm to Nashville and after a 3 hour car ride this was not what I wanted to deal with at arrival.
