Historic 1810 Captain Burrows Home~ A Nautical New England Inspiration!
Ay Ay, captain! Stay in an antique home with an authentic seafaring history!
Captain Burrows was a descendant of one of Mystic’s founding families. He set sail on his maritime adventures as a cabin boy on a whaling voyage, after which he forged a distinguished career as an officer, working on the steamships that ferried passengers from Liverpool, England, to New York and Galveston.
Capt. Burrows' home dates back to circa 1810 and is brimming with nautical character and New England charm. Just imagine the captain bringing goods back from his ship to this very house, sneaking them in through the cellar door to sell to the shipyards that once sat in Mystic Seaport!
Just a 10-min walk to downtown Mystic and with delightful water views of Tuft’s Cove, Captain Burrows Home is perfect for family and friend gatherings, sleeping 6-7 guests in 3 super comfortable bedrooms!

My family of 5 loved our stay at the Captain Burrows home. It was exactly as pictured. Our host was wonderful, the property was immaculate and well-stocked. We could walk to town and were happy to be able to use the grill for burgers to help keep eating out costs down. We would not hesitate to return to the Captain Burrows house if we return to Mystic.
We came to stay so the kids could go to camp and we could work. This place was excellent! It was the perfect place to work/have a mini vacation. The location to walk to town was amazing.
We had a great stay at the Captain Burrow’s House! Debbie is great and we loved sitting outside! The property is in a great location and everything is very walkable to downtown Mystic.
We had a great 4 night stay in Mystic as a family with 2 teenage kids. The house is beautifully decorated, cozy and Debbie thinks of every need you might have so you can truly relax and enjoy the home and Mystic. We had a terrific and relaxing time together; could not be happier we found this home!
We enjoyed staying in a historical property with authentic furnishings. It’s beautiful, cozy and very close to Mystic Village and attractions. I would definitely recommend this to future renters.
Lights on, personal welcome messages and pie waiting for us from property owners. Plenty of supplies provided. Decorated and furnish to blend with the period of the house. Great location. We enjoyed our stay
Our family of 4 adults enjoyed our three night stay over Thanksgiving. The location was perfect, a 10 minute walk into town, including the well-known bakery Sift, and a peaceful view of the water. The 1810 house was in nice condition and contained interesting folk art items that fit well with its history and seaside location. Everything we needed was provided.
This charming New England cottage offers a cozy, inviting atmosphere that truly feels like a home away from home. It’s stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay, from kitchen essentials to thoughtful touches throughout the space. The hosts are incredibly attentive, ensuring that every detail is taken care of, and their hospitality makes the experience even more special. The views from the cottage are absolutely beautiful, providing a serene backdrop to your stay. Plus, it’s conveniently located close to town, making it easy to explore the area. Whether you’re looking to relax or venture out, this cottage is the perfect spot.
We had such a great stay! With five boys all 11 and under, I was nervous that we might feel like there wasn't enough space, but it was great! Plenty of seating for everyone, lots of great toys, games, and books, great views from the front window, a nice little yard for the kids to burn off some energy.... we would totally stay again!
And, everyone loved the apple pie and chocolates too :)
Wanted to go to the beach sat and Sunday so
Last minute we booked a one night rental!!! What a gem of a home! Location is great the house is beautifully decorated the amenities are wonderful the bedrooms are spacious and
5 stars is not enough. Location was perfect. The home was absolutely charming. The host was above and beyond attentive to every detail. Whatever you can think of that you may need or want this home has it. I can’t wait to return.
Oh my gosh we had a wonderful time staying at Captain Burrows House, thank you Debbie and Paul!!! Your attention to detail made our stay special and so relaxing. We enjoyed the outdoor space , the kitchen was better than home and best of all were the beds!!!! I do not remember when I have slept so well. Again; thank you so very much for your hospitality!
This was our 3rd time staying at this property and it won't be our last. Debbie is so amazing and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The house is so unique. We are history buffs and this property doesn't disappoint in that department! Beautiful, super convenient neighborhood too. Can't do any better!!
My family (wife and two adult daughters) stayed at the Captain Burrows house. The home was stocked with all the utensils we needed for our three day weekend. We could see the boats in the harbor right out the front window. The host had excellent communication before and during the stay. It is a very short walk into downtown Mystic with plenty of shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed the firepit one night. Highly recommended!
The Captain Burrows Cottage is an absolute gem, as is Debbie, the host. The cottage is decorated in cozy comfort, with everything one needs to cook full meals there or to relax with all the amenities of home. It’s also within an easy walk of restaurants in Mystic, if one would rather dine out or shop. We visited all of the area museums & even drove to RI, and we were always happy to be back at the cottage at the end of the day. The daybed is the perfect place to read or nap, the beds are comfortable, and the backyard is a lovely place to relax & enjoy ocean breezes. The view of the pond and Mystic River add another layer of peace. We would definitely stay here again. Debbie made the whole process so easy and was readily available.
We enjoyed an amazing week at this historic and beautifully appointed home. The hosts went out of their way to spoil ius, including, luxury chocolates by our beds and a warm baked treat on arrival!
The house is filled with fascinating curios along with extremely comfortable beds and cosy pillows and throws. It is also perfectly situated for walks into Mystic and Noank.
We highly recommend this wonderful and unique property and cannot wait to rebook!
The experience of walking into this home was amazing. It truly awakens all of your senses with music playing in the background, adorable decor and a fresh cherry pie waiting for us. Every corner had something new and interesting to absorb. When we got there we just walked through the home capturing all the details.
The host was wonderful and made the check in and checkout process very easy. Home is with in walking distance to downtown Mystic. Would definitely stay again.
We had the best weekend at this home! The maritime/Americana motif and endearing details of this house were so sweetly done and you kept finding new little things to look at all the time. It was immaculate and was stocked with everything you’d need. The host was VERY accommodating and very attentive to our questions/needs and made sure our stay was nothing but a 5 star experience. It was located close to town/shops and restaurants, as well. I can’t say enough about how cute this house was…. If you’re on the fence-JUST BOOK IT,
You won’t be sorry!
We fell in love with Mystic and are already planning on our trip back to the area! And we LOVED our cute coastal cottage! Deborah was so attentive and we were floored by the way our rental house was presented. It was clean and very comfortable. The historical, nautical feel was so fun for our family spring break getaway. There were comfortable beds for all 6 of us. When we arrived we found a fresh apple pie for us, a fresh daffodil centerpiece, and chocolates by all our beds. The house had everything we needed. We can't wait to come back and will definitely rent from Deborah and Paul again!
Our family was in Mystic for a wedding and absolutely loved our stay at the Captain Burrows home. The location was great - super easy to get in and around Mystic. The home was clean, the kitchen well-stocked, and the seaside Americana decor made the home comfortable and cozy. We would 100% rent this home again or any property that Debbie & her husband manage. They are top-notch property managers who provide excellent communication about the stay and provide personalized details at the home that make the visitors feel very welcome. I highly recommend.
The location was fantastic! It was a short 10 min walk to the Main Street. Having the cove across the street was lovely to view from the dinning room window. The outdoor area was adorable. The house was truly like living in a museum, which was such a unique experience. The house had everything you need and plenty of additional comforts, towels, soap, half/half, paper towels, ect! We did not need to bring any of those things. Deb and Paul thought of everything you could ever need. The cherry pie was delicious and such a nice touch when we arrived. As well, they were only a text away and addressed any concerns immediately.
From the moment we drove up to this home, the nostalgia was palpable. We entered it like we were diving into a well loved novel. The history, charm, antiques and detail were like an immersive experience. It was truly a piece of art. The photos (which are beautiful) couldn’t capture the magic; which is atypical as photos are usually better. We felt like we were walking into a boutique hotel while also feeling completely at home. It is steeped in history and charm. You can feel the love that Debbie has put into every corner of the property. This was such a special time to spend with my husband and young children. We made memories that will last a lifetime. I hope to return one day as it was just that perfect. The Captain Burrows home was THE highlight of our trip. Mystic and it’s many offerings were a bonus.
On a more practical note, you’ll have everything you need. Extra linens, blankets, paper goods, toiletries, local menus and pamphlets, a stocked kitchen/dining space, apple pie upon arrival and half and half in the fridge. I can’t think of one more thing that would have made our stay more comfortable/easier.
We absolutely loved our stay in Mystic at the Captain Burrows house. There were so many little touches to make us feel welcome throughout our stay.
The house and grounds are absolutely beautifully decorated. The nautical theme fits in perfectly with the history of the house and the town.
There were three of us traveling together and we each got our own rooms, which was important to us. The beds were very comfortable. The lady who slept downstairs said the bed made squeaks whenever she moved, but it didn't bother her very much. We could not hear any of the squeaks from upstairs.
The house is sparkling clean, there is a washer/dryer if you choose to do laundry, the kitchen is loaded with anything you would need if you choose to cook during your stay. We were quite impressed with the variety of K-cups and tea. And cream in the fridge!
We loved sitting outside in their comfortable lawn furniture, which was also in the shade, so that was nice!
We also appreciated the binder of information that we read through. It was very clear. Also, there were phone numbers and information on the refrigerator, which was helpful.
We would definitely stay there again! Debbie (and Paul, too) are top-notch hosts.
