"Cape Tribulation is a very unique and special location. It’s certainly worth exploring and staying the night. The cabin was clean and the ensuite was large and clean. It was ideal having the ensuite because it was raining and although the amenities weren’t far, it wouldn’t have been unpleasant having to leave the comfort of your room to shower or use a toilet. Perhaps the price is up there, but I guess it’s fairly remote. Staff friendly, pub across the road made lovely pizza."
"Very centrally located.
The rooms are very comfortable.
If you’ve flown up, contact the Sovereign and you’ll get free return airport transfers.
The pool is very refreshing however if you’re an older person or have mobility problems you may find it hard to get in and out of as there are no hand rails or easy steps to get in.
There’s a walk in area but the slope is steep with nothing to hold onto.
It’s a very ungainly episode to try and get out of the pool! I suggest that this be looked into as I noticed there were quite a few older people staying there.
There’s a bottle shop and a bar. A huge variety of drinks available and the food is pretty standard pub food. It’s got a really relaxed vibe about it.
It’s right across the road from the RSL and Bowls club. Up the road is the Shipwreck Cafe which has coffee and meals (which are very good).
If you don’t want to buy breakfast at the Sovereign, just walk up the road to the Cooktown Cafe. You’ll be rewarded with good coffee.
Everything is within walking distance. The Sovereign is a really nice place to stay."

"We really enjoyed this beautiful, peaceful lodge. Breakfast was good and the hosts delightful. They shared a lot about the local history and culture. Don’t miss the historic rock art nearby."
