It was very difficult to get instructions on how to get into the property, the management company was useless. We called VRBO directly and got a clear and concise answer. The weekend turned out great! We hiked all around, swam a lot and hung out on the porch with a superb view of the lake.

We needed to escape the rat race of Atlanta and bring our 2 little dogs. This rustic place is private, has a wonderful private lake that we were able to go canoeing. We enjoyed a spectacular hiking trip to nearby Yellow branch Falls. Very friendly owner who lives nearby provided helpful information. We look forward to returning back.
Nice place to stay. Could be cleaner and would have been nice to know the shower didn’t work. But bath tub was clean so bath it was. Nice place but could use a little updating and better cleaning staff. Overall nice quiet stay!
If you are looking for a quiet getaway overlooking a lake in the South Carolina mountains, this place will suit you well. Had coffee on the front deck looking out at the lake each morning, listening to the Hooded Warbler singing away. We had a nice paddle around the lake in the canoe, and John (owner who was in the next door of the duplex) told us how to find the pretty little waterfall that feeds the lake.

Good location for resting
Some surprises but adequate for the low price. Be sure to ask all questions: central air? Bed sizes? Bathroom size?

Nice and close to lake
Perfect for me and my son's little fishing trip. Nice and tidy spot. A little different that the cabin is connected to the residence, but we had no issues. No central air or heat, but they provide space heaters which helped on our one chilly night. If you want to disconnect, this is the place. Very few channels on TV and no cell service. The proximity to the lake was perfect and you're not too far from town for some decent dining options. Overall, very nice time spent.
I chose this property because I was looking for somewhere with a large, covered porch and a water view. This trip was all about rest and relaxation. That is exactly what I got. My mother and I arrived around 4pm on Friday and we did not leave the house until we left for home on Sunday morning. It was so peaceful! No noise from highways. No people. If you are looking for a place to take a “mental health break,” this place is perfect for it. We have already decided we will go back!

Quite Enjoyable
We stayed 5 nights in April. The weather was a mix of chilly and warm so the fireplace was lovely. The view is spectacular. We enjoyed kayaking around the lake and hiking on nearby trails. I did not realize this cabin was actually attached to the owner's home. That may have bothered me if they were home, but they were not, so we had complete privacy. The cabin is located in a neighborhood so you are not totally alone, but because it is located at a dead end, you don't realize it. Nice area to walk in. The bed was comfortable. The TV did not offer much reception. All in all, we loved it and would stay again.

Lovely scenery of the lake.
i was a little surprised that the owners property was joining the rental, i was aware that the owner may be onsite, i was aware that the owner was a neighbor, so i cant say i was falsely told. However when ever i was on the rental porch the owner could see and hear everything, not that it mattered but made me uncomfortable. The property was clean , however it needs some love. I didn't mind the appliances were outdated. However the A/C was a small unit in the bedroom window with a floor fan, to the living room . Love the fact that we did use the canoe . ........I cant rate this property high, as comparing it to many others at that price were i think it's a little over priced
Perfect for a distraction-free, unplugged get-away
A very quiet setting right under a canopy of trees and a stone’s throw from the lake. If you’re looking to unplug from the high-paced distractions of life, this remote rental is wonderful. They do have internet, so you don’t have to be completely off the grid.
The little local town is only about 10mins away which is convenient, and has some decent restaurants.
As the listing states, it’s definitely not for families with children under 5. But great for a couple’s get-away.

Bare Essentials
The owner of this place we met. He’s nice but here’s my take on this. If you’re interested in a good no frills base station to drop in and hike the nearby trails and see waterfalls, this place will do. Access to the lake is strenuous. Steep decline/incline. Kitchen appliances and cookware were old and outdated but functional. Small portable gas grill cooked 2 steaks at a time(bring your own screw on propane canister?). On the upside, peaceful, quiet ( when there’s no contractors in the way) and a great rocking chair porch overlooking the woods below. Bed were comfortable. *limited cell phone coverage and very few and basic tv channels(if you have a child it could be of importance). There’s is a DVD player. Around 10 miles round trip to grocery stores/restaurants.
This is an excellent place to REST! Very quiet, trees are gorgeous and the lake is lovely. We slept so good and we will be back again! Nearby hiking was excellent, not too steep and not too easy...just right for us anyway!
This cottage was "back to nature" in that we felt like we were the only one on the lake. It was quiet, had everything we needed, and a little we didn't know we needed. This is a place we wood love to come back to again.
We had an excellent time and the cabin was in perfect location to visit a ton of waterfalls!

Beautiful Area
The area is absolutely beautiful. The host is very accommodating. I am a clean FREAK - and with the current pandemic - I am overly critical of cleanliness. We stayed, but it did not meet my standards for cleanliness.

Disappointed
I’m not even sure where to begin, the road into this location is not the best, certainly did not look like a cabin. But what bothered me the most is what poor condition the property was in. The linoleum in the bathroom was worn through, I was afraid the faucets were going to fall off the tub. I really don’t think the oven had ever, ever been cleaned. The towels were hard as rocks. This might be a place where a bunch of fishermen might crash for a few nights, But certainly not a husband and wife team. Mislead about the Internet, we probably had four or five channels on the TV. I had no service on my iPhone. We left a day early because I couldn’t stand the thoughts of spending another night there.
ugh, we just loved this place! The Lake is absolutely amazing. So many hiking trails around, we chased about 3-4 Waterfalls. Our dog had a grand time as well, we will be back!
