  • The Ozark Hideaway is the perfect place for a cozy, quiet getaway. It’s secluded location is 8 miles from quaint Gainesville, MO, home of Hootin-n-Hollerin, in Ozark County on a well-maintained gravel road. Abundant wildlife abounds throughout the 90 wooded acres, and white-tailed deer can often be seen grazing nearby. You can enjoy the well-marked hiking trails and, if you are lucky and rains have come, relax by the natural waterfall. Either way, you are sure to be amazed at the unusual, volcanic-like rock formations found in that area. If you are the more adventurous type, you may choose to venture off the trails and explore the wooded area on your own. Or, you may want to visit some of the other attractions in the area, such as the grist mills, Caney Mountain Refuge, or some of the numerous lakes, rivers and streams for seasonal adventures in floating, fishing, swimming, or boating.
    If you aren’t looking for adventure but just want to rest, relax, and rejuvenate, you have definitely come to the right place. The quiet, peaceful serenity of Ozark Hideaway is hard to describe. You really must experience it for yourself. The views are breathtaking; the stars are brilliant; the air is clean; the quiet is calming. The cabin itself is most often described by our guests as “so cute, cozy, and homey”. The living room offers a gas fireplace/stove, comfortable seating, and a 50" flatscreen tv on antenna with Blue Ray DVD player. You will find a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, stove, refrigerator, and plenty of dishes, appliances and cookware. A beautifully furnished bedroom with queen bed and antique dresser has a sliding door onto the covered porch and ample windows to enjoy the wooded view and gorgeous sunsets. Additional sleeping space is provided by a single bed in the loft area. The spacious bathroom has a walk-in shower, as well as a hidden washer and dryer. A fire pit is available for cozy campfires and roasting hot dogs, as well as a chiminea to warm you on the back porch.
    This delightful cabin in a picturesque setting is sure to be a favorite getaway for you.

Anne is a wonderful host, and her little cabin suited us just fine. Not fancy, but very comfortable and clean. Beautiful setting. It's about 5 miles from the paved highway, but the gravel road is very well maintained, and the property is near the end of the road, so very little traffic. Take some hiking shoes and explore the 90 acre property on the well-maintained trails. We enjoyed everything about staying here.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The cabin is so quaint and has absolutely everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The host, Anne, is an exceptional person that shows true care for the property and for her guests. We felt right at home here and loved the fact she took a little time out of her schedule to chat with us. The land is beautiful, and the trails Anne maintains on the property are perfect for a morning hike! You will not go wrong staying here if peace and tranquility are what you are after!

We enjoyed our stay so much! The location was perfect for us. The cabin was cozy and welcoming, we enjoyed the trails as soon as we got there. Kitchen was well stocked, and bed was comfortable.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay! The location was so peaceful and relaxing and everything promised. I enjoyed the trails and the thought that went into welcoming me to the property. Anne was amazing and I have already referred several people who were looking for something similar. I will definitely be back.

This was one of the BEST stays I’ve ever had. The cabin was immaculate, the grounds beautiful, the amenities stocked, and most amazingly - our hostess Anne was incredibly kind, helpful, and friendly. Staying here felt like staying at home - it was just perfect and I would absolutely come back, no question about it. If you want to stay somewhere secluded, tranquil, beautiful, and relaxing - CHOOSE THIS HIDEAWAY! There’s marked trails to hike ON the property, beautiful stargazing opportunity, you’re 10 minutes from a grocery store, and 20-30 from nature activities of your choice. It may seem distant from civilization - but these days, that’s not so bad. Anne will make you feel right at home and your stay with leave you wishing to take a few extra days of PTO to stay longer! 10/5 stars!

We absolutely loved our stay. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful. It was so peaceful and relaxing. If we make it back to Missouri this cabin is definitely on our places stay list. Oh..and she makes the best zucchini blueberry muffins <3

Repeat Will Likely Be A Three-Peat!!!

Beautiful Fall Trip

A perfect, quiet, well furnished place with lovely host and welcoming committee of pets! Beautiful fall colors right out the back door. Close enough to grand gulf state park, close to Caney Mt. Conservation area (very pretty!) and Byrant Creek St. Park (also beautiful!). Spent a 3 day fall break trip there and it was a good choice. Highly recommend it!

My Favorite Stay!

If I could rate this any higher, I would. Five stars isn’t enough. From the moment we walked in until we left, I was so happy with our choice of where to stay in the Ozarks. If you want a peaceful stay in the country, you will love this rental.

We had a wonderful experience at the Ozark Hideaway cabin! Anne is an excellent host! She is very friendly and a wonderful communicator. I always heard back from her in a timely manner if I had any questions. The cabin was very clean and the Christmas decorations were so pretty and just perfect to match the old fashioned theme. The cabin was very quaint and cozy, just what our family prefers. Our little boy loved climbing the ladder to the cute little loft. The whole vibe felt like a Grimms' Brothers fairy tale, which I loved! We went hiking on day one and had picnics on both days. The woods and hiking trails were beautiful and we can't wait to go back during wet weather to be able to enjoy the waterfalls! Five stars from our family! :)

My boyfriend and I stayed 4 nights in November beforeThanksgiving. It's a beautiful, cute, and quiet place. The host were wonderful, kind, and generous. Anne(Host) made some yummy muffins and had a welcome card for us. Loved they had trails you could walk on the property, orange vest, and hats to wear for safety during hunting season. We really enjoyed it and hopefully return again in the future. Thank ya'll for a wonderful getaway.

Loved this Dog Friendly Cabin

Everything was terrific! Hiking opportunities on the property & close to many Dawt mill, our family’s meeting destination. The resort wasn’t dog friendly but this little place way. Loved it . Will be back in the future:)

We had a great time!

The cabin was very clean and decorated for Christmas! We enjoyed hiking on the well marked trails and enjoyed the serenity of the property. We used the grill and had a small fire in the chiminea. Overall a very relaxing weekend. Also Anne is a great host and even baked us some delicious pumpkin muffins and left a Christmas card. Thank you Anne!

Outstanding!

This was our favorite of all our VRBO stays. The cabin was adorable in the woods, and the owner resides in a house nearby. We were able to check ourselves in, and she was ALWAYS available if we needed, even to just ask questions. She left us muffins and a birthday card for my daughter, and was so warm and welcoming. We hated to leave. My family is moving to this area. Knowing there are people there that are so kind is a huge plus. Loved Anne and her place!!. The environment is breathtaking..

Much needed time!

I only gave the accuracy of online posting 4 stars because there has been a change! The futon has been replaced with a new, very comfy couch! Great for naps (we took several 😉). The only other thing I would note is that the fridge is on the small side. We were staying 8 days which is longer than most stay so I’m sure most of the time it is completely sufficient. The trails were fabulous. The cabin cozy and comfy. The attention to detail is amazing. Night lights, flashlights, labeling of light switches, etc. Small things that made such a difference! Overall we had an amazingly quiet, calm and much needed week! Thanks!!!

This cabin is the perfect place to enjoy nature and relax in peace and quiet. Ann is a fantastic host. Tge cabin was very nice and clean she left us some delicious homemade muffins and even laft a bag of treats for our dogs! Thank you for everything Ann we had a great time.

An anniversary trip to a cabin in the woods with a beautiful view of the mountains of Missouri from the covered back patio. We were surprised to find that it in fact was right next to the owners home, but other than our expectations being off, the house was not an issue in our enjoyment of the well laid out floor plan, comfortable furniture, and many extra niceties like fuzzy throws, the blueberry zucchini streusal muffins, dvd movies, games, patio furniture and fire pit with wood available. We enjoyed one of the well marked trails to the waterfall also. Our host was available but not intrusive nor were her two furry pets. We had a wonderful experience at the cabin and enjoyed several drives to nearby old mills. Looking forward to visiting again.

The best peaceful retreat you could over hope for! the trails were beautiful and well marked, the waterfall was gorgeous and relaxing, the cabin was cute and cozy. My dogs and I had the best time while we were there.
