"Our expectations were not terribly high when we made the reservations--just a place to stay overnight, near where we were going to be the next day. It is located just off I-95, and is located at the beginning of a shopping center, so we figured it was just another place. When we arrived, it looked like other chains that are usually just OK at best, the kind with 2 stories, no elevator, etc., like a "Worst Eastern", shall we say. But when we got there, it was very pleasant inside, and the front desk person was very pleasant, and check-in was very efficient. She also mentioned that they had been renovating the rooms, and that we had gotten one of those rooms. The room we had was just perfect, especially for the reasonable price. It was clean, plenty spacious, had pleasant decor, all very tastefully done. with coffee maker, microwave, and ample refrigerator. Bathroom was not huge, but plenty big enough, with an excellent shower. Some little details that matter when you travel: 1) A real bathroom door on hinges, not some sliding slab on rollers. 2) Real bars of soap, bottles of shampoo/conditioner/lotion, not big bottles of cheap stuff in the shower; 3) a bathroom mirror with a built-in defogger and push-button adjustable light. Bed was comfy, free wi-fi. There's also a pool. Only small downside--a grab-and-go breakfast bar (granola bars, etc.) instead of a full free breakfast (there is a restaurant attached to the inn, so that's understandable). Great value."

"We came here for my grandmothers 80th birthday. She had always wanted to come back to Maine after her trip in 2001. We got her here and it was greater than she ever imagined. The place was so clean and so prepared. Everything we needed was ready at the house including towels, floaties, chairs, etc. we were absolutely blown away and can’t way to make another trip at this perfect location!"

"The king room was huge, had a separated living room, desk & bar area. Had a TV in the bathroom for the jacuzzi tub, bathrobes in the closet, bed was very comfortable. We would have used the fireplace but we were there in June. Easy to find and a Target and a few food places in walking distance. We ordered from the restaurant for dinner and it was delicious. And reasonably priced."

"The hotel has an impressive lobby and public spaces which could easily accommodate a bar/lounge/café. They would greatly enhance guest experience. We enjoyed the outdoor fire-pit and seating, but our swimmer found the pool busy, and water temperature too cool. Two in our group arrived on Wednesday, weary from a long drive. Luckily it was social night with complimentary bbq chicken and other small bites, and wine and beer. If only this was offered all week, The rooms are great. Space is well planned to include a full kitchen, dining table, sofa and coffee tables, comfortable beds and ample bathroom space. The breakfast staff and offerings were very good, as were the other hotel staff. One in our group found the shower's hot water lacking. But it was back later in the day after many guests had checked out. I highly recommend Homewood Suites in Augusta, Maine."
