"the only 2 things that could have been better, were the tv mount (mounted high and angled slightly up) and power outlets in less awkward locations. so all in all, a great motel."

"We greatly enjoyed our stay in the cottage in the country. It is well appointed for self catering with kitchen facilities that include a full oven and dishwasher. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom has a bath with shower over it. There was a stereo, a selection of books to read and a DVD player....this was useful as we had taken some films to watch as television viewing is the Freeview channels. The cottage is in a lovely garden setting and my husband had a good view of the stars at night with his telescope. Our only criticism would be that the two seater sofa is not the most comfortable and the fry pan is past, causing food to stick to its surface.....otherwise it is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The small town is limited for evening meals in the early part of the week but Stronescrubie opens Thursday to Sunday and we enjoyed good service and a tasty meal. We enjoyed lunch at the nearby Staveley Cafe and there are light lunch options and coffee at the Mt Somers Store which is worth a visit. An option for earlier in the week for evening meals is the Black Panther Pub in Mayfield, recommended by the owners of the cottage. Many thanks to Leonie and Peter."

"Perfect spot for a stopover before hitting Arthur’s pass from Dunedin. Plenty good eating options within walking distance. Good value for money, continental breakfast included too"

"100m away from the mt somers general store, 2 minutes drive from the stavely store, not far from methven. close to the hakatere conservation park and right next to mt somers walkway. the house was very comfortable and beautifully cosy and equipped."

"Family had a great stay thank you. I’d left my toiletries at my previous hotel so the Huia products were amazing!! Great way to showcase NZ products. Like that you offer recycling bins and for rooms without a sink to wash the dishes used. Lovely staff "
