This is my favorite hotel in Trier! This was my 3rd stay and I love the view of the Porte Negra. Great location to shopping and near the train station and a bus hub. Staff are always great and quick to grant any requests. Highly recommended!!

I think this is a great option for a stay in Trier, its right opposite the Porta Nigra and as such a very short walk to the town centre and numerous attractions. Breakfast is expensive but has a fantastic variety of foods. Staff are very professional and requests are actioned promptly. Definitely worth considering

Don’t arrive before 15:00!
Arrived shortly after 13:00 (after traveling for more than 24 hours and being very tired), and couldn’t get into our room until 15:00. Very disappointing! Otherwise everything was good. Great view onto Porta Nigra from our room!

The location is excellent and great views of Porta Nigra, easy walking distance to train station and all the towns shops. The Hotel is very clean and well maintained with friendly staff. I didn't like the fact they ask for credit card details on arrival when I had already paid before arrival. I refused and paid for food and drink as I asked for it. Trier is very tourist orientated but has a lot of history and Roman ruins , so compared to other towns in Germany I've visited Trier is expensive especially with eating and drinking out.

Well worth it.
Very comfortable, clean hotel with cheerful management and staff. The view was quite wonderful and the hotel is very convenient to sightseeing in the old town.

We loved the location! It is across the street from Porta Negra and the old town of Trier. Very safe and walking distance from all the attractions. Clean and nice room service. We were pleasantly surprised!

The most wonderful room of our entire 2 week tour thru Bavaria. The room was nice and spacious and so was the bathroom! It was so nice to have breathing room. And then, we also had the Porta Nigra view so that was bonus. If we get back there again, I’ll request room 219!

Ig visiting the Roman & other sites this hotel has the perfect location. Friendly & professional staff and large comfortable rooms. Great breakfast with a bar and restaurant on site.

The staff were always helpful to assist with anything needed. Friendly people & convenient location makes Mercure in Trier a great place to stay when visiting. Make sure you stay for at least 2-3 days, as there is a lot to see and it requires several days to take it all in.

The hotel was in a great location, with an easy walk everywhere. Did not need the hop on hop off bus or tram as we could walk to all of their stops. We had a minor problem with heating in our corner room, but the hotel was very accomodating and moved us to an equally nice room. The staff was excellant.

Great staff, great information and decent breakfast. Only negative remark is that I wanted to make a cup of coffee with the provided amenities in the room, but the coffee milk was spoilt and chunky. That was nasty.

More basic over time.
We have been visiting this hotel for years because of its rooms and prime location in Trier. Over time the little details have been lost like cups, individual shampoos etc and the customer experience stripped back. Always have to book through an online agent because they are more competitive on price than Accor less 10%.
