Getting Around: Moravia, IA, United States If you enjoy the outdoors, you will love Rathbun Lake. With more than 11,000 acres, eight parks, two marinas, and several restaurants and cultural activities nearby, the Rathbun Lake area is a vacation destination for everyone. As the second largest lake in Iowa, Rathbun is nestled among forested lands, prairies and wetlands preserved to ensure the natural environment. Bald eagles, white-tailed deer, songbirds and other wildlife are prevalent in the area. Rathbun is a flood protection lake managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Recreation facilities include boat ramps, campgrounds, picnic areas and playgrounds. The Corps has a Visitors Center that provides information about Rathbun Lake’s natural resources. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages both Honey Creek Resort and the original 850-acre Honey Creek State Park. In the future, the DNR plans to link the two parks, which are separated by a cove, with a pedestrian bridge. Honey Creek State Park offers camping, camping cabins, heated shower facility, trails and a boat ramp. Another DNR facility in the area is the Rathbun Fish Hatchery. The check in process was effortless because of the great communication by management. The property was a perfect size for the two of us. We would recommend the cabin stay to anyone visiting the Rathbun Lake area. The property has numerous activities for adults and kids.

Very nice place to stay! The cabin was clean and very relaxing. The owners were very easy to communicate with. We will definitely be staying there again!!
This little cabin has a great location with hiking trails and a Resort nearby. It was cold when we stayed so we hiked one trail to the lake and spent one afternoon at the Resort water park. It was plenty big for 2 adults and 1 teen. The pull-out sofa was simple to work. We did bring a couple pans for our meals only because we prefer cast iron. There was plenty of Ameneties for hte weekend.
Messaged manager about bedroom light not working ... no response so that is why I give it a 4 and not 5.
