Explore the entire Americas inside Montreal’s fascinating eco-exhibition, featuring all sorts of climates and wildlife.

The Montreal Biodome is an amazing educational experience, perfect for adults and kids alike. Home to over 250 animal species and 500 plant species from varying ecosystems, the Biodome is a nature-lovers haven in a busy, metropolitan city.

Experience the varying climates across the Americas with the Biodome’s fascinating ecosystems, which range from the Arctic to the tropic. Each ecosystem is full of unique wildlife and plant species, so make sure you allow enough time to learn about each one.

The Biodome’s exhibitions start off with the Tropical Rainforest, a thrilling look into life in the beautiful rainforests of Central and South America. Home to exotic animals, such as tamarins and piranhas, the Tropical Rainforest is arguably one of the most exciting and interesting ecosystems in the Biodome.

Of course, there are plenty of areas showcasing the best of local, Canadian environments, such as the Laurentian Maple Forest. This exhibit is a recreation of the expansive forests that exist between the Canadian/U.S. border, and is home to an array of local wildlife, including beavers and the rare Canada lynx.

Experience amazing underwater worlds in the Gulf of St. Lawrence exhibit and the Arctic and Antarctic exhibits. Featuring local marine life from these differing ecosystems, the tanks are brimming with life, including lobsters, halibut, puffins and penguins.

Built under the enormous glass roof, the Biodome features all of the exhibits in the one area, so it is easy to get around. There are helpful English audio guides available to hire, and lots of informational signs and placards help to fill visitors in on the science and history of each ecosystem. The Biodome is very popular with families during the summer, so try to avoid the crowds by arriving early.

Outside the Biodome is the gorgeous Botanical Garden. Many people visit both the Biodome and the Botanical Garden in the one day.

Located beside Montreal’s Olympic Stadium, just outside of the city centre, the Biodome is easily accessible by metro, bus, car and bicycle. Paid parking is available on site.
