10 guys stayed here for a weekend and had an excellent time. house is huge and very clean. we were there late march but I’m sure especially in the summer it’s a great getaway with a pool and lake access.

Charming home for big groups

Spacious and inspriring

This is a large and quiet location for a family or group get together. We loved the squarfootage, pool, kitchens and baths (all updated). Ben was excellent to interact with as a host.

Good Weekend With Friends

Solid house for a weekend with friends. Rooms were spacious where all 15 of us were comfortable. It's a solid house but also definitely a rental home in terms of quality. Also very echo-y so hard for people to go to bed early. Driveway plowing was good enough, as long as your car is solid in snow you should be fine in the winter. Good value for price

We had an exceptional experience! Pool was clean, heated. House boasted plenty of space and entertainment and has a great location. Plenty pf wood stocked for multiple fires by the water or house. Only thing I could say would be the grass was quite long, but did not impact our stay!

FANTASTIC family getaway

We chose to stay at this heavenly property instead of our group of 12 heading back to Woodloch - and this compound checked all the boxes. It was luxuriously gorgeous, clean, homey. The perfect place to enjoy a family breakfast in the morning, head out on the lake in the morning, swim in the pool in the afternoon followed by a whiffle ball game on the yard, then a sunset bbq and smores at night. True perfection!!

Amazing stay!! Highly recommended!!

We had a really amazing time by this great house. The house is very up to date and clean!! The views were amazing and the lake was fantastic!!! Ben offered us a couple kayaks and fishing equipment to enjoy ourselves by the lake, which we greatly appreciated. There is also an amazing game room, and a very nice fire pit. The property is massive and is extremely private. He was always available and responded to any concerns right away. I highly recommend anyone thinking of staying here to book!!!

Monticello

We had a nice time. The house is large and generally has all the amenities listed. There were some issues, however. The lake is overgrown with algae, so not good for swimming, but the pool was great. There were also some maintenance issues with the house.

A very nice stay with friends and family

We rented the house for a long weekend for our family and two other couples. The house was very comfortable and there were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone. The kitchen area is very nice and had plenty of room for everyone to gather around. The backyard also had plenty of room for relaxing and playing, even on a chilly November weekend. I will say that the pond had mostly dried up, so the water view was not much to look at. I'm not sure how often that happens. The host was also very responsive and helpful in getting us situated.

Ideal for Larger Groups!

I would absolutely recommend a stay at Ben’s lake house! While the reviews below are true that the house could use a coat of fresh paint, that’s where my areas for improvement end. The value of this property is 10x what you would get at a resort for a large group. We did everything from cook in the pizza oven, to playing spike ball in the backyard, to jumping off the dock into the lake - not sure what resort has access to all of that in the privacy of your own group. If you’re here in a good weather month, we even rented pontoon boats on the lake the house is on. Does it get more convenient? There’s a pool in the secluded front yard if the lake isn’t your thing, and downstairs there’s arcade games and a pool table. The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, which made cooking for a large audience easy. The house isn’t the only thing to do either, and our friend group made use of the local casino (which has big city casino vibes) and golf courses. Monticello was a hidden gem just 90 minutes from NYC, and I would absolutely go back to Ben’s home.

It's the little things that count

I would to have given a five star rating, but for the price we paid, I expected some of the little things to be better. Working with Ben was easy and pleasant. However, being an absentee landlord shows up in the details. The upsides: The interior of the house is lovely. It's a spacious home giving our family plenty of room to spread out on rainy days. The basement game room was a hit! Plenty of activities for all age groups. A spacious yard overlooking the lake allowed lots of room for stomp rockets and firefly hunting! The pool was the 'star of the show'! Comfortably heated with beautiful decking and plenty of seating. We spent a lot of time enjoying it. The downsides: We did notice a smoke detector was detached from the ceiling in the living room. The interior handrails are too wide to get a good grip on, which was a a problem for older family members. Homes we previously rented addressed that issue by adding compliant handrails. The wooden decking around the house is in sore need of repair. There are many gouges and lots of splintered wood. When we arrived, the grass had not been mowed so there were flowering weeds attracting bees. One of the children was stung soon after we got there. There was only one towel for each person. Upon calling Ben, he responded quickly and these issues were rectified. However, there shouldn't have been a need for a phone call. Because he doesn't personally oversee the property, these little things slip by.

We had an amazing weekend on the property. The fire pit, lake and pizza oven were highlights of the weekend. The house is huge and everyone was comfortable. The property manager was very communicative and on top of some issues we faced. Overall, a wonderful trip!

The house was absolutely beautiful, spacious, stylish, and perfect for a weekend with friends. We had an amazing time and really enjoyed the space.There’s very little cell service and the Wi-Fi was weak, which made it tough to stream music or use our phones, but it also helped us fully disconnect and enjoy being together.The host was also very accommodating for our schedule by letting us check in early, I really appreciated the quick communication and kindness of the host. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to relax and enjoy nature.we enjoyed smores by the fire pit, the view was so beautiful and serene. unfortunately when we were there the pool was not usable but we had plenty other things to do, so many amenities and games, the house was simply put, SICK!!!!

Awesome getaway for large groups

This was one of the best places I’ve stayed at. Tons of bedrooms and bathrooms (so many showers and they were all pretty large), plenty of different spaces to hang out including the main first floor where the kitchen/dining room/living room is all combined, basement with various games (pool table, video games, arcade game, workout space, chess), and so much outdoor space. Pool is heated and spacious, there’s 2 different fire pits, an outdoor table that’s well shaded, dock/lake area. Space was very clean, plenty of linens/towels, kitchen was very well equipped. No issues with wifi and there was even wifi by the pool. Check in was easy and host was always responsive. Highly recommend for a big family or friend trip
