The best area to stay in Montharville is the historic Old Town, particularly around Place Saint-Pierre and the surrounding streets.

This neighbourhood is the heart of Montharville, known for its cobblestone lanes, timber-framed buildings, and a relaxed pace. Place Saint-Pierre, with its impressive cathedral, is a natural focal point, and you'll find a good selection of independent shops, local eateries, and cafes in the immediate vicinity. The River Loire is just a short stroll away, offering pleasant riverside walks.

For couples seeking a romantic and convenient base, the Old Town is ideal. You're within walking distance of the Château de Montharville and the Museum of Fine Arts, making it easy to explore at your leisure. Evenings can be spent enjoying a quiet dinner at a traditional French restaurant, often with views of historic architecture.

Families will also find the Old Town suitable due to its pedestrian-friendly nature and proximity to key attractions. The public gardens near the Château offer space for children to play, and many restaurants are accustomed to catering for families.

The best time to go to Montharville is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the region. You'll find comfortable temperatures, ideal for walking, cycling, or visiting the local châteaux without the intense heat of summer or the chill of winter. The countryside is particularly beautiful in spring with blossoming flowers and in autumn with the changing colours of the leaves.

For those looking to avoid the busiest tourist periods, late spring and early autumn are perfect. The attractions are less crowded, and you can enjoy a more peaceful experience while still benefiting from the good weather. This is especially good for couples seeking a relaxed and romantic getaway.

If your priority is outdoor activities and longer daylight hours, the summer months (July and August) are also suitable, though they can be warmer and busier.
