“Peaceful Retreat” @ MTL

Mark Twain Lake area has a lot to offer! Our “Peaceful Retreat” is located just 10 miles from Monroe City, and the property is only 5 minutes from Indian Creek Marina.

Very nice home includes a large kitchen/dining area with a breakfast nook. Large living room with a wood burning stove. We offer free Wi-Fi and there is a 50” Smart TV with Firestick. Three spacious bedrooms that will sleep 8 comfortably with room for setting up the portable queen size bed for added sleeping. Each bedroom has a digital clock with a USB port and charging station for docking your cell phone. Laundry room is well stocked for use during your stay. There is a large, beautiful deck for warm weather enjoyment. A Gas Grill and a Fire Pit for your enjoyment. There is a 2 acre lake for fishing (and you are allowed to keep whatever you catch), swimming & kayaking! No fireworks are allowed. No Smoking or Vaping allowed in the home ($250 fine if it happens) you can do so outside.

Take Hwy 24 South out of Monroe City, to Hwy HH (Indian Creek) turn left. Go to Monroe County Road 581 (blacktop) and turn left. We are 1.5 miles on the right. Turn at the Indian Creek Boat & RV Storage Office sign on the right. Bring your boat (there is parking on the property down by the garage), bring your family and enjoy the peaceful country setting. There is a private 2 acre lake for fishing as well. We (the owners) do live on the property as well with our dogs, but respect your privacy and give you full use of the deck, dock/lake area during your stay, but are here to help if you need anything during your stay!

Only 30 minutes from Hannibal where you can visit Museums, Mark Twain Cave, restaurants, antique stores and More! And less than 15 minutes to Monroe City!

Wonderful stay at the Peaceful Retreat.

The house is very clean with a lot of amenities! We didn’t get to spend much time there but sure enjoyed it when we came back to relax and go to bed. Nice and cool and very comfortable. Beds are great and the bathrooms are outfitted with many skin care items.

Awesome, clean place!

Really enjoyed our time at the property. Plenty of space for the family and very clean and well taken care of. Short drive to Mark Twain Lake for a fun time there too.

Amazing!

Beautiful scenery calm and quiet with surrounding sounds of nature. Some great fishing, a place to swim. Way more appliances and utensils then expected. Definitely a 10/10 and will visit there again!

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful stay! My only regret was we didn’t book a longer stay! My parents joined my husband and I and we all were very comfortable and content. I’d love to come back and stay again some day.

Family Fishing Trip

We came to Mark Twain Lake for a family fishing trip. Vicki’s place was awesome. Had everything we needed. Vicki was quick to respond to our questions. Beautiful and peaceful setting, close to boat ramp. Will definitely be staying here again.

Exactly as pictured, beautiful location, lots of amenities

It was easy to find and check-in. The location is pretty stunning with the back deck, fire pit solo, and pond. But the biggest thing we all noticed along with the cleanliness was how well stocked it was. Lots of coffee choices along with the espresso bar. Lots of bathroom soap/shampoo/lotion choices, deep pile on the towels, and the kitchen was well stocked. Many matching dishes and utensils. The BBQ grill was amazing! A large gas Weber genesis. A fantastic property we would be happy to stay again if we visit the lake. Very close to Indian Creek recreation area for the boat ramp or beach.

MTL Northern Jewel

The 'Peaceful Retreat" @MTL was everything as advertised AND more. Very clean, comfortable and well stocked with items that we had forgot to bring. Check-in and check-out was easy. The back deck is great for relaxing morning coffee and evening drinks. When travel takes us back to the north side of MTL we will be hoping the Peaceful Retreat @ MTL will be available.

This host is awesome!

This stay exceeded our expectations. There were thoughtful, handy little extras everywhere. We didn't want for anything. The highlight of my stay was I learned how to use an espresso machine! When we needed to communicate with the host, their response was always prompt and kind. We will definitely stay here again.

Our recent stay at this Monroe City VRBO was exactly what our family needed for our Stoutsville family visit! When you're traveling with three teenagers, finding a place that doesn't make everyone want to stage a rebellion is practically a miracle—and this place delivered!The location was perfect—close enough to our relatives in Stoutsville that we could pop over whenever we wanted, but far enough that we didn't have to hear Uncle Bob's "when I was your age" stories 24/7 (love you, Uncle Bob!).The kitchen was well-equipped for both my ambitious breakfast plans and the kids' midnight snack raids. Our teenagers actually said they "didn't hate it," which in teen-speak translates to a five-star review.

An excellent experience from start to finish. The property was spotless, which made it feel instantly comfortable and inviting. Awesome property!

This was one of the most well-stocked and well equipped rentals I have ever stayed in. I can’t think of anything else that I would have wanted to find in a home. We slept very well in the very, very comfy, cozy beds. Vicki answered any questions we had immediately, and is a very gracious host. The weather turned out much more cold and rainy than we had hoped, but the house was so wonderful that it really didn’t matter.

Peaceful Reconnection!

Vicki quickly responded to each inquiry and was most kind. The property was spacious and well-stocked with most anything you might imagine. There is plenty of room for yard games, a huge deck overlooking the oversized pond, and an amazing corn crib fire pit! Our 7 and 8 year olds enjoyed trying to play badminton and it was fun feeding the fish in the pond too. Smores was definitely a highlight.

You'll feel right at home!

It's not too often that you book a VRBO simply as your vacation destination, but this is one of those places! We booked this home as a destination for our son's birthday weekend getaway. He wanted fishing, campfires and open spaces to play; and we got all that and more! Grandparents joined us for the weekend and there was more than enough room for sleeping arrangements, preparing and eating meals, and relaxing outdoors. The pond providing great fishing all weekend as well. The owners were kind and accommodating. There was plenty of firewood, good fishing tips, and the outdoor amenities were amazing! On the first day, our son said "We should come back here every year!" It was that good from check in to check out. Thank you Vicki for sharing your slice of Heaven with us and making us feel right at home!
