My worst experience ever

No working heat but it's a house. There was a chimney and hot water heater but neither worked. Host was unreachable from time of check in until 2 hours past check in. There was mold and water stains. The pictures in the listing are very old and not indicative of the antiquated property. We drove six hours to turn around and go home. Thank God Evolve who listed with VRBO were decent human beings and gave me a partial refund. VRBO did nothing for us. I will never use VRBO and again. I will be leaving bad reviews everywhere I can against VRBO and asking anyone I know to do the same. All you had to do was make it half right but VRBO ruined our anniversary vacation. Never again

“Dirty”

We arrived Monday late afternoon, to our dismay the rental was dirty. The cleaning company never showed. I contacted Mr Carroll who said he would call the cleaning company. He asked me if it was ok for them to call me, I said ok. Was hoping to get out on the water, that night to do some kayaking, but that didn’t happen. We went to get something to eat and picked up some cleaning product and some groceries. We got back to the rental about 7:15 ish. The cleaning company was a no show nor did they call. So no kayaking, we had to clean this nasty place took us about 3 hours or so. There was some food left out by the last renters, dirty fridge, coffee maker was very dirty. Microwave wasn’t cleaned, trash can was dirty. Some mold in the shower, which we didn’t use. Grabbed all the dirty towels in linens from previous renters and made a big pile. There was a lot of trash bags outside, which had a foul Odor which we put up with while we were there. Beds were uncomfortable One nice thing was kayaking on the water, one ok thing fire pit, but you had to put up with the trash smell. The pictures are deceiving. There wasn’t a whole lot of privacy I would like a 100% refund. So very disappointed Scott Gina

Enjoyed our time at the Lake House

What a wonderful three days with family at your beautiful lake house. Loved the views, screened in porch, the lake, the dock and the overall peacefulness. Stars at night were spectacular. House is well equipped with pretty much everything you need. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Lake house- great location

The location was beautiful, right on the lake. We enjoyed hearing and watching the loons from the screened in porch or the dock. You can even see the Milky Way at night from the dock. There were several hiking trails close by and also less than an hour from town and supermarkets. The lake house is a quintessential Maine camp- comfy, but rough around the edges. The kitchen has all the equipment that you need to cook, and my daughter even made my cousin a birthday cake. However, The decor hasn’t been updated since 1975, except for the TV and WiFi. My daughter couldn’t sleep in the middle bedroom with the noisy hot water heater and moldy window AC unit in the closet, so she slept on the futon in the living room. When I first opened the door, the strong scent of Pine Sol bowled me over. I always use up scented cleaning products, so the first thing we did was to open all the windows and turn on the fans to air out the house. Then the shower door fell off the hinges every time you opened it. We were told the owner was going to fix it, but not before we left.

Wonderful Spot- Space needs attention

The spot is perfectly located and was what we were looking for. While the description is 'rustic' I would counter that having a shower door so old and rusted that it falls off when opened, mouse droppings on all the cookware and electricity that made my carpenter brother-in-law cringe is less rustic and more in need of serious attention.

Great place!

The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for cooking! As a Chef I truly enjoyed that! Everything about the house I Reilly enjoy and specially the Kayaks which were the whole reason we picked this house! Felt like were lots of spiderwebs around but we did read about them to be a normal thing to happen in the area around the season! The ONLY things I would “complain” about was the fact that the host never replied to ANY of my emails or text messages (I did not try to call), we thankfully did not had ANY problems, but I wonder what could happened if we really needed to contact him. We did followed all instructions and regulations and loved the experience overall but I was disappointed I could never get in touch with the host. Other than that I would come back :)

Great location and kind neighbors

This location was perfect for the end of summer. We walked right from the house into the lake and swam from the dock every day, and used the firepit every night. Beautiful view over the lake sitting on the screen porch every morning. The neighbors who take care of the property were incredibly nice and helpful with local information and even lending us extra things we hadn't brought. We'll definitely be back.

Awesome Maine Camp

What a lovely cottage!! The water is visible as soon as you walk in the door...the porch was absolutely heavenly. We enjoyed breakfast, lunches and dinners there while listening to the loons on the lake. Karen next door was lovely, as were all the neighbors we met. This was such a special time of reconnection for our family. Make sure to go see Rick DuBois on rte 126 for "lobstahs" and fishing supplies! He may even give you a beer! Thanks Robert for the great getaway!

Picture is deceiving

The property does not look like the picture. It is overgrown with trees and bushes no walk in access to water. Very Disappointing
