Perfect for a quiet holiday with choice of local restaurants and lovely walks.
This is such a lovely place. Peaceful and relaxing with a great pool and fabulous mature but well kept garden. The house has everything you need and is spotlessly clean and larger than the pictures suggest. Several of the local restaurants are just a walk away and the town has a relaxed vibe and is certainly not ‘touristy’. Being able to go for walks from the doorstep into the hills around us was fantastic. Pascal and Eulália were lovely hosts and extremely helpful. Would definitely return here.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here at the end of our portgual break to wind down after being by the busier towns and coast, my only regret is that we didn’t book for longer. The hosts couldn’t be more accommodating, fast responses to any questions I had. The villa is fully equipped with everything you may need. It really is a beautiful villa, very spacious and as for the pool…. big, clean, the views were amazing, we could have easily hung out here for two weeks! We will 100% return and recommend to anyone we know visiting Portugal.

We stayed late May24 and found the villa to be fabulous. The pictures don't do the place justice at all. The gardens and surrounding area are stunning. Mature planting with orange and lemon trees. The pool is a great size with stunning view down to Monchique. Weather was in the mid to late 20's but we still opted for the heated pool which was great. A couple of nights the temperature dropped quite quickly so would advise some hoodies etc. The villa is well equipped and spacious for a small family. There are two bedroom areas both with doubles. There is also a pull out bed in the living area. The kitchen is well propotioned and has all the essentials.wifi is ok but patchy by the pool. Outside has several eating areas with a gas bbq. The owner and agent were both welcoming and responsive. There are a suprising amount of restaurants locally with at least 4 in walking distance (age depending). The town is a short drive and has a large supermarket and a limited amount of bars/restaurants and shops.A magical place for a relaxing week. Some constructive critique is that the furnishings and linen could do with being replaced. Also a welcome pack with guide on how things work at the villa would have been welcomed. Mosquitos are prominent so would advise taking or buying solutions. A hire car is essential if you want to see any of the surrounding area. Monchique itself is walkable but wouldn't advise with shopping etc. Overall we couldn't fault it and hope to return in the future.

Monchique Villa Oct/Nov
Despite our late arrival (after midnight), we were welcomed by the property manager Eulália, who met us at the local supermarket and shown us the way to the villa and gave us a thorough guide to the property. The villa itself was lovely with everything you need for your stay. The surrounding garden was beautiful with stunning views of the valley below and neighbouring hillsides. I can imagine the private pool being an absolute godsend in the summer months, but could have been a little warmer for our autumn visit (I myself swam in it most days - took a couple of minutes to get used to the cool water - very refreshing all the same). The log burner was great to have for the evening time and there's an unlimited amount of wood available, supplied by the owner. to the location and the terrain, hiring a car an absolute necessity when staying at this villa. Monchique is a five minute journey and the nearby towns + the south and west coastlines are relatively closeby, no longer than an hour's drive. We even drove to and from Lisbon for a day trip, but I'd recommend using the A22 and A2 toll roads rather than the road from Monchique leading in a north easterly direction (very winding- so not good for travel sickness). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend staying in this villa.

A Gem In Monchique
Just concluded 7 nights at your property and absolutely loved it. The property provided all the lovely comforts of home along with a beautiful pool and landscaping that excites us daily. We felt spoiled with all the space and privacy. Monchique is such a charming town isolated town yet 30 minutes away from the action of Portimao and Lagos. Our hostess Eulália warmly welcomed us and set us up with the property and town. We are looking for excuses to visit again soon.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and the villa's size, equipment and location surpassed any expectations. Our meeting up with the Villa manager was simple and Eulalia was always happy to help. Only mistake was not booking the wonderful villa for longer !

Even better than the description!
This is a quirky house with lots of personality. Beautifully decorated, cozy and comfortable. The bright sunny kitchen is well out-fitted with all the conveniences of home. Direct access to the patio dining area was a bonus! Livingroom, dining room, kitchen and bathroom are all quite large. The bedroom is small but more than adequate. Outdoors, the gardens, pool, sitting areas (many), and the surrounding property are sublime. It is the perfect place to relax. We really enjoyed picking fruit right from the tree. Fresh oranges for breakfast are a real treat! The property is situated in a perfect location. Easy walking distance to Monchique (1km) Several nice walking trails right from the property. Fabulous views with not a neighbor in sight. Several good restaurants located within a 5-10min walk. We'd like to thank, both the property manager and the owner for making our stay PERFECT! I really hope that we can come back for another visit sometime soon!

Lovely quiet cottage near Monchique
The cottage is is restored in the original Portuguese style and is situated on a quiet hill slightly above Monchique. The owner Pascal sends plenty of information beforehand and his multilingual local agent Eulalia helps with check in and gives plenty of information of the area. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over the hill whilst having breakfast on the quiet terrace. The pool is big for the property and has great views. The area offers a variety of activities. We did a 10km walk to the highest point in the Algarve, combining 2 walks, one of which leaves right beside the property. You can visit Monchique itself, but also its surrounding towns and the coast is not far should you wish to visit. There are plenty of opportunities to eat out close by, and we also visited the Portimao Municipal Market, where you can choose from a plethora of fish, veg, fruit and charcuterie/cheese.

Lovely quiet location
We had a lovely stay at this traditional Portuguese cottage and everything was catered for. The swimming pool area was very quiet and relaxing with no sound of cars or screaming humans! South and west coats of Portugal are all within 1 hours drive from the cottage and having the intermache down the road was ideal. The only downside was that a welcome pack would have been a perfect welcome for when we arrived at 11.30pm. We have realised that we prefer a location with a bit more things to do but we welcomed the rest after what’s been a busy 2 years.

A Wonderful Experience
The property is in a stunning part of the Algarve, high up in the mountains. It was probably the most well equipped villa we have ever stayed in and we could not have asked for anything further. Being high up we experienced cloud cover for the first few days but found the sun on trips to the coast. What we did not realise was that we could have asked for the pool to be heated and this would have made a difference as it would have had more use. The small touches were appreciated. There were roses on the kitchen table and lemons in the fruit bowl on arrival. As we arrived late "welcome pack" would have been useful with a small additional charge. The property manager was lovely and could not have been more helpful. Overall a really good break in a quiet and lovely area.

Mountain beauty and relaxation
This house is nestled up and above Monchique, with expansive mountain views allowing for dramatic observations of the weather. The property is lusciously landscaped with fruit trees, flowers everywhere, delightful scents during the spring when we were there. The house itself is immaculately renovated, clean and very cozy. What a delight to cook in a traditional Portuguese kitchen and eat outside amidst the birds and views.

A peaceful oasis
This property is lovely. Spotlessly clean, well-equipped kitchen, large pool. Gardens nicely landscaped and has a couple of orange trees. Great views. Quiet- only birds and the occasional dog from across the valley. We were warmly welcomed by Eulalia, who can show you the shortcut into town and has good tips for places to eat, good beaches, etc. Despite feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere, town is a 15 minute walk or a short drive, and beaches west and south are 45 minutes to an hour away. Our regret is that we only stayed a week.

Ideal mountain retreat.
Located well away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the Algarve and idyllically set into the hillside, we loved this secluded, traditional style, detached cottage. Portimao is only 35 minutes or so distant which gives easy access to the A22 and resorts to the South. A slightly more adventurous cross country route across meandering minor roads and approximately an hour’s drive away is the beautiful West Atlantic coast. However, and in the immediate vicinity, the rolling hillside gives wonderful views of the coastal plain and is populated by various good quality restaurants which serve excellent local produce. We particularly enjoyed the Jardim das Oliveiras which is a short stroll uphill from the house. But we found 4 others within a mile which all had virtues. Fantastic for such an apparently out of the way place. The only cons I can think of are to be prepared for some biting insects: take Jungle Formula or similar. Don’t bother if you’re after a lively club scene. Access for people who lack mobility may be awkward. The accommodation is very well looked after by the efficient manager, who was contactable by mobile, arranged for key collections and gave a guide to the property. The pool was marvellous, clean and allows a panoramic view of the Monchique valley. We would thoroughly recommend a stay.

Peaceful traditional villa in the mountains...
Having stayed around the coast a few times but previously visited the mountains - we wanted to try a more traditional place to stay, away from the busy areas and Monchique is certainly that. The villa is looked after by Pascal - a friendly Frenchman next door, who wants to make sure you have everything you need but on the whole leaves you to it. The villa has rustic charm, is very private and only overlooks hills opposite (quite a way away) - it's a terraced plot with fantastic well presented grounds with small gravel pathways squirrelling through the trees and bushes and great private pool area with stunning views. The location allowed is to venture further - going to Aljezur and the famous Praia de Monte Clerigo... we also dropped on the Algarve race circuit by accident which has a fantastic outdoor kart track (brilliant!)... you're about an hour to 2 hours away from anywhere else - whichever direction you travel - so you need a car. If you're after nightlife and entertainment - this is not the place for you... but if you want to enjoy a more traditional Portugal, then I would highly recommend this. Eating tips... Rei Do Piri Piri is a short walk and gets terrible reviews on TA but when we went it was good - Piri Piri excellent...as are the views. In Monchique itself, Ochara gets great reviews as a veggie restaurant on TA but it's basically a toastie place and expensive for what you get. Intermarche supermarket in the town has a good selection... but you have to try the burgers at Fonte dos Choroes in the town centre.
