We stayed here because there were severe storm warnings in our original destination. It's a family owned hotel, older building, very vintage, nothing fancy but the rooms and sheets were clean and comfy and that is truly all we needed. All necessary amenities provided. The price was excellent. Minneapolis, KS felt like a quiet small farm town community and very safe.
The motel was more by the hour than by the day. Very run down very unkept. Walls needed proper repair showers needed proper repair.

We try to frequent small businesses during our travels. I do not recommend the Rock City Motel. The person who checked us in was rude
There was an issue with with Expedia and she did not handle it professionally The room was clean but the mattress was worn out years ago.

The lock on the door worked fine. The coffee maker work3d fine. The bed held us up no matter how hard we worked it over. She enjoyed the extra pillow under her. The bed is just the right height to stand beside. The walls must have great
insulation as we got no noise complaints.

Found a sticker on the comforter when it stuck my arm in the middle of the night.
Filthy!!! Stained carpets, sheets, towels. Room reeked of tobacco. 4 spiders killed. Sure I missed more. Tried to give me rules for my certified service dog!!! Complete dump! Stayed long enough to take a shower to wake up and drive to a real motel …
I reserved this property for our employees to stay in while working in Minneapolis. My employees went to check in and the lady(owner) wouldn’t let them check in because she said the rate that Expedia charged me wasn’t correct and she refuses to give rooms to me for that price. She was screaming at me. I asked her if I could pay the difference as there are no other properties in the town and she said no that she didn’t have any rooms. She hung up on me twice, very rude and wouldn’t even let me talk. I had to end up calling Expedia to get refund and booking rooms in Salina for my employees. Will never even attempt to stay at this property again.
We ended up leaving and losing all our money as the hotel would not refund us. There were dead bugs all over the room, the sheets were thread bare and looked extremely old and unsanitary. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the ceiling had prior water damage and was cracked and peeling as well. The carpet was stained… overall the building was in extreme disrepair. None of us felt comfortable laying down on the beds or setting our belonging on the floor.

A good handyman for repairs and proper touchups would make a large difference. The room was clean although the repairs needed gave a different feeling.
It was a good price and reasonably clean. The room was hot when I arrived. The A/C was noisy and was not cooling the room. I talked with the manager. She said I did not set it correctly. She said to set it to 61 to get it to cool to 75. It still did not cool properly. The A/C outside drain was plugged, so the air inside was musty. Also, the light over the bed was not working. I did leave a message with the tip for the cleaning person.
I reserved one queen size bed for two nights for two people. The manager gave me a room with two queen size beds. We both found hairs and lint in our shhets the first night. The next afternoon the manager accused me of being
dishonest because we used both beds in the room she gave us. She wanted me to pay more money for using both beds. I

When you're about the only game in town...
The room smelled very clean, but like college dorm bathroom clean... As in, one smelled lots of bleach that may be covering up something gross. From there, there were many flies in the room. The beds were far from new. The shower did not drain. The AC did not work properly unless it was set to freezing.
I've stayed in worse places, and I might have to stay here again. But this is one of two hotels in a very small town, so it is what it is.
