"Stayed here on a visit to Wigtown in late August 2026. Communication was great with multiple emails confirming reservation and instructions. Although there are no staff of duty the instructions on how to get the key were timely and detailed and we had no problems at all getting in and checking out, and we arrived late. "The hotel is delightfully old school. Table cloths in the large dining room and carpeted floors making for a peaceful atmosphere where one could be heard. The balcony in our spacious bedroom was a joy from where we were able to occasionally see red deer. The staff were enormously helpful in moving luggage - there are no lifts. All in all a delightful experience."

"My friend and I spent Wednesday night there, and received a VERY friendly welcome from a nice lady at the reception desk. Unfortunately, there are no lifts and the stairs are rather steep and spiral too, which as two elderly men with walking sticks we found quite hazardous with our luggage. When we got to our room, which was on the first floor, the light in the shower room and loo was broken, resulting in complete darkness with the door shut. I went back and spoke to the lady who had welcomed us and her surprise at the light not working seemed 100% genuine and she apologised profusely and said she would "get it fixed". Then she very quickly and efficiently got us moved to another room, also on the first floor, which was absolutely perfect. I would recommend this hotel for its cleanliness and friendliness but disabled people need to be aware of the stairs."

"When we arrived at the hotel it didn't look anything special from the outside. On entering into the small reception we received a very warm welcome and given some local information. We were directed to our room which was very spacious, clean and a nice outlook . The bed was very comfortable although I found the room warm but my husband slept right through the night, which is unusual for him. We opted to have dinner in the hotel and although a bit pricy we were very happy with what we ordered. A very pleasant stay and I would definitely return"

"Fabulous property - luxurious and well appointed, great hosts who were friendly and welcoming. The house is ideally situated in Wigtown so right by some lovely pubs, bookshops and nice areas for walking. We were a group of 6 adults and 4 young children (and a dog) and it perfectly suited our needs - plenty of space and ideal for a group get together. We can’t wait to return!"
